Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
There was some leaking underneath a few of the caps, nothing crazy bad that was leaking out onto the board around it yet though. It did have some odd behaviors occasionally before and stopped working after I added the SATA card (probably pushed something over it's limit). It definitely seemed...
Yeah I bought caps to do my AIO as well. Photo of the voltage regulator doesn't really matter, they're all the same core design and same four caps (at least all of them I have) even if they're different make and slightly different layout.
My Beige G3 tower started having problems recently, so I figured a re-cap was in order. I didn't find any guide or capacitor list so I decided to make my own for reference as I worked.
Here is a capacitor list for the board and the capacitors I used (I haven't done the tiny 10uf 16v yet...
Yeah this is exactly what I've run into. I've dug around in wayback trying to find old info but so much is just gone.
FWIW I wasn't specifically asking you to try and reconstruct what exists, just wishing there was an archive of it around.
I love that you've saved a bunch of these sites...
I have one that looks exactly like this that I use with all of my multisync machines: https://www.ebay.com/itm/144859122878
Seems priced a little high so there may be someplace else to find one cheaper.
So I used the Seitek flasher on my RHC SATA card and it's working great, except for the fact that there is a long delay after powering on before the machine starts coming up. I assume this is a result of using the 128kb firmware using compression? If so, is there any way to flash the 512kb...
You shouldn't need a dip switch dongle like that for the Centris. There are probably modes that will work, but it'll be a lot easier to just use one of the passive multisync adapters instead. You only really need the dip switch and sync on green ones for systems like the Macintosh II series.
Afterdark 3 only requires a 68020, so it should work fine assuming it works in 8. I haven't tried it as I don't typically install 8 on anything below an 040 or early PPC system.
I haven't tried the game, but as others have said: Virtual Memory off, 256 colors and system 7.5 would probably be your best bet for pushing a little more speed out of it as is.
You can overclock the 575 board (may or may not need a faster CPU? or a heatsink at least) but it's not as simple as...
Yep I've been watching there also. Picked up my Interware card from there on a tip from Paulie I believe. Turned out to be the lower end card and has some problems so I'm still keeping an eye out.
You may need to install it with a newer version of the Afterdark software. I have it running on one of my systems in 8.1 as part of an Afterdark 4.0 install currently.
Very clean, when I first looked at it I didn't notice it was an LCD right away. With how bright some of these modern LED LCDs can get, I've wondered if a piece of curved smoked poly over the front would make the effect a little nicer (with the brightness up a bit to compensate).
