Can we close this thread? This was not what I started, and is also apparently (and thus) redundant.

    Compu's Conquests

Elfen, I think that was me who recommended Scrubbing Bubbles, but ironically that suggestion originally came from Unity.  I agree with basically everything said here, except I would douse everything in Scrubbing Bubbles after desocketing the chips, then bathe in distilled water (to avoid the...

haha. except for the bezel on the front that's well done. in this case i really just wanted to find a way to compact my 2nd machine which i use for floppy and scsi (though i got a powrmac scsi card with windows 7 and 50pins for my main rig); and simultaneously i have no use for my AOA150; and...

    IIgs Networking Boot Disk

(When I first saw Warez as a kid (b. 1985), it was not at all obvious to me (for years...) that it's wares, so I internalized that pronunciation as Juarez.) My IIe has both; I just recently installed the 19-pin connector, which is why I mentioned it (before that it really would have just been...

    IIgs Networking Boot Disk

I had basically the same thoughts, particularly because I want to minimize disk switching.  I also wonder in hindsight if I actually had to add a user on my mac.  When I have time I'll work on this a bit more and post again. Re: floppy emu, I'm debating it because I also gather it's not...

    IIgs Networking Boot Disk

That cites to this. I found the other's organization honestly hard to follow. I found this most helpful even though it's for System 5.0. * Prep: I am not sure if System 6.0.1 is compatible with all machines. You need 4 DD 3.5" floppy disks - format one as ProDOS and use DiskDup+ [which is...

    IIgs Networking Boot Disk

Yeah... the latter...  That's disappointing.  So is what you're saying that his 3.5 Appleshare option is really only for netbooting?  Because that would probably explain why the Desktop won't open.

    IIgs Networking Boot Disk

Well so I'm wondering which 8mb one can swap in...  I get the impression 8 is the limit (8 is enough?) but I could be wrong. Additionally, I think one would need to modify the card - at least adding two of those other chips; not sure about the resistors.

    IIgs Networking Boot Disk

My inference from mostly browsing pictures on eBay is - and you're right there for sure are 4 (and 8-) mb memory cards, but most have a very different design than the Apple cards, and so it's not simply an issue of populating.  I have wondered about actually changing the chips, but I've found...

    AppleColor RGB Monitor issue

As I noted in a PM, those are rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise; so I think the vertical line you're referring to is the line below "Check Startup Disk," which is horizontal.  So then it sounds like I have uncommon vertical issues and not really common horizontal issues, then?

    IIgs Networking Boot Disk

Well so that's sort of my issue.  With 1mb of RAM and a max 800k swappable disk, I'd actually rather use a RAM disk - I have my eye on SCSI too but my gut tells me I'm too cheap currently.  So my question was really more can one fit the base system and Appletalk/Share onto an 800k disk.  ...

    RS/6000 PCI SCSI Card

Win2k was the right idea, but the NCR drivers give an error 31. However, the MS Symbios 875xx driver works, so now I have a neat little inconvenient 50-pin interface on my legacy PC. Thanks! **uhh... any thoughts on whether the card would have termination/power or if something is Temple of...

    AppleColor RGB Monitor issue

Not another hi-res... when I first saw this I tried the composite which is fine but that doesn't help. Would this (http://carnationsoftware.com/carnation/RSS/Apple_II/Apple_IIgs_Monitor.html) test the adp (or whatever it's called)? Or a comparable homebrew adapter?

    AppleColor RGB Monitor issue

Okay. Recapping I can do. As I say, at some point after the novelty of playing with the system wears off (after I can figure out networking) I'll open it up; my plan was basically to look for cap issues, bc I don't know how much else I can do.

    AppleColor RGB Monitor issue

Alright thanks. And this is my attempt to capture what happens when one tries to reduce horizontal control. 3rd pic is horizontal increase. 4th is middle vertical control at max. And 5-6th are leftmost vertical control. Sorry, I'm installing Windows 2000 or I'd rotate all the pics; I...

    AppleColor RGB Monitor issue

Deflector Board D?  I'm planning on eventually taking the thing apart but I'm really not sure what to look for.  This doesn't fit one of the troubleshooting templates and most of those (particularly the most analogous - which aren't that close) involve eventually or initially replacing that...

    IIgs Networking Boot Disk

Well... the basic question was how do I fit networking onto an 800k disk when I keep getting space errors. I may have been trying to install the wrong version, though. It seems the correct version is not Appleshare but Appleshare, 3.5 Disk (which in hindsight makes perfect sense but was not...

    SE/30 help

I'll have to try that; wait do you mean just up to Snow Leopard.  Does archiving (zipping/stuffing) retain the header info?
