Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
They do have a very small die, and you have to be very careful with it. That is a good find! I had to look quite hard for mine. I have a 1Ghz and a 1.1Ghz, that I may have damaged.... :(
It’s a little tricky to pull off but I’ve found for me that using the iron on one side of the board and the little pusher on the other side pushing through to the iron works best. Worth a try if you just can’t get that battery holder cleared.
Highly recommend picking some of these up for those pesky through hole pins that seem to be able to suck up stupid amounts of heat and still not clear. Game changer for me with them… very cheap too. I find a bit of twisting motion on them while you push and heat with the iron works wonders...
You may have those issues if you don't have your zulu setup correctly. Can you try with a normal drive? I have run into similar issues with an incorrect config.
@Moloko if you read my thread I did eventually find a ide/sata solution but I was never able to get the style of adapter you are trying to work. That adapter that you have for me only has worked on my g4 machines.
@Moloko I went through a similar set of struggles with my 5500, you might find the record of my saga to be an interesting read. https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/ssd-solution-for-5500.43954/#post-480405
This is the fan it has: https://www.pchub.com/panaflo-matsushita-fbe05k12u-server-square-fan-fbe05k12u-2cx-p213899
I was thinking that red was 12v and black was gnd leaving the yellow for 5v line but the connector is not wired that way at all.
Ok so I have an orange micro card and the fan was unplugged when I got it.
The board is nicely labeled 12 and 5v however the wire colors on the fan just don’t seem to match up. Am I missing something? Could it be an unoriginal fan?
It’s a constant struggle, I did cleanup this area yesterday and organize my drives and bezels I’m trying to get it to where it makes sense and I can actually find stuff. Right now I’ll set something down and 10min it’s later I can’t find it anymore… 😭😭😭
Big improvement over the prior picture.
I do have plenty of machines that are quite yellow, but yeah I dunno. If I ever get everything working and the only thing left is cosmetics then maybe I’ll mess with it.
But given the size of the pile I don’t think that will ever happen! 😂😭
So far I've not retrobrited anything. The shades of yellow don't bother me so much as when you can't find a matching hue part to use. I dunno it just hasn't ever seemed worth the trouble to retrobrite things. Whether it makes it worse or not why take the chance? Also seems like a very messy...
Received some grief in the other thread about my bezel collection for the 8100, so I decided to double down and literally double the size of my collection.
These here will be joining my collection soon:
Is there an interware thread somewhere on the forum where we can document these various products? I have some stuff I'd like to add, but I am not sure if there is already one. I know there is the BUG thread but I haven't seen an interware one.
