I did this with my mini vmac image of 7.0.1 and it works but when I try to open any alias of a program it asks me to insert "Macintosh HD" which is the disk's name. Is this normal?
DD doesn't work on my computer. It just repeats everything I type. Help!
Update: I got it to work by pasting the file directory of the .exe in cmd. Seems odd but it works.
I don’t think I even entered any DNS information. When I used the dreampi with my G3 it connected fine with no DNS information. I suppose MacTCP doesn’t obtain that information from the dreampi the way the more modern TCP/IP program does.
Just out of curiosity, why use the router address as the...
I have the dreampi setup on my Macintosh plus. I use macweb 2.0 and it works and loads pages but won’t load websites unless I use the IP address of the site. It also won’t read domain names. Also I would like to set up a proxy to get rid of all the css and stuff. Any suggestions?
IT WORKS!
It turned out that the internal ribbon cable in my enclosure was at fault. I am not sure what was wrong with it as I have two Quantum drives that work fine with it. Regardless, I decided to solder a DB-25 connector to the board (not very well/lots of blobs :/) and use a DB-25 ribbon...
I have had this Ethernet to SCSI adapter for a little while now and cannot get it to work. I set up mactcp manually and everything. Installed the Asante 5.1.2 drivers and software. It even receives packets. But when I open macweb or any other web browser it doesn’t want to load any page (error...
UPDATE: Progress was made!
I decided to test the SCSI2SD in my Macintosh SE/30. It worked! Used BalenaEtcher and the images that I got from Steve's guide. So I know the method of writing the images works. However the Macintosh Plus still failed to boot from it even with software termination...
Thank you for this advice. I will conduct more tests once I get back to my desk. I will post an update then.
I tried using dd on my windows machine. However, it wouldn't do anything but repeat what I typed into the application. I successfully used disk util on my Macbook to write the image and...
Here is an image of the temporary set up I have going. Under the SCSI2SD is the dead Quantum drive that once populated this enclosure. The still working power supply powers it with 5VDC through the molex adapter. You can also see the two SCSI ports wired to the internal connector. The mac is...
I have tried several SD cards. BalenaEtcher does give me an error before writing the provided images to the SD card but it allows me to continue. These images are supposed to be .dsk files correct? And I am supposed to write them to a normal (FAT32) empty SD card? The images do not open in mini...
I have tried only setting up one device before but maybe it's worth another try. Thank you for informing me about the extension.
I have the v5.1, doesn't that mean I have software termination? The enclosure I installed the SCSI2SD in has two DB-25 ports wired together to the drive maybe that is...
No worries. I tried Lido 7.5.6 but for some reason it does not recognize the device properly or sometimes not at all. When I run Lido it scans through all the SCSI device ID's rather quickly but stops at the ID that I set the SCSI2SD to (0 and 1) and spits out a error. Could this be that the...
I have tried that method several times and it hasn’t worked. Mac sits there asking for a disk but the question mark is frozen (not blinking). Mouse moves so the computer doesn’t lock up.
Update:
So I configured my SCSI2SD utility to match the set up that MOS8_030 had and the plus recognized the two virtual drives! However when I try to format them I am greeted with an error. So frustrating! I almost thought I had it. I suspect it has something to do with the vendor information...
I am going to reconfigure my set up based on the screenshots of your SCSI2SD util. Is there anything I have to do to the SD card besides confirming it’s empty and FAT32 formatted by windows? In other words if I have everything set up correctly, I can just insert a blank/clean SD card and connect...
Yes I have an external Quantum SCSI drive that went bad so I mounted it in the case from the old drive. It has power coming from the power supply in that case and a 50 pin SCSI cable connects it to the DB-25 external cable leading to the Macintosh.
I recently got a SCSI2SD V5.1 and have been having trouble setting it up with my Macintosh Plus. I have it setup to emulate a single 1 GB Seagate drive and am trying to use Lido 7 (booted off of floppy emu) to format the drive. I have already edited the 3 special setting for the Macintosh Plus...
I haven’t even had luck with getting LIDO or HD SC Setup to recognize that there’s a SCSI device plugged in. I think there’s something wrong with the way my SCSI2SD is set up or the way my SD card is formatted. How did you format/setup your device in the util program?
