Any plans to make the files available to make the PCB's? I'd like to make one of these. I have a few couple MO drives as well that I'd like to convert.
Late to the show but this is fascinating. I haven’t been able to get the clip on internal SCSI interface to work on Mac Plus so this might be a nice alternative.
As an aside how did you make that analog board to logic board extension cable? I’ve been wanting something like this forever but...
I'm working on getting Netatalk 4 up and running and have a couple questions:
1. Is it still the case that Mac OS hosts do not have support for atalkd to share files to older Macs (System 7 etc)?
2. My server has a 250GB SSD. How are we limiting volume sizes for older machines? Using the...
I think backbone or active star are really the only viable options at this point. I'll probably just run a length of backbone along two of my long desks where I usually work on my old Macs and call it a day. Appreciate all the advice.
Oh, I'm already there. I have an HP 1930 48 port switch that is full of Cat6 runs from all over my house and office and have fiber as well for my Proxmox server and Synology with Mellanox ConnectX-3 Pro cards. I was a little shocked at how expensive the SFP+ module to do 10GBaseT to my Mac...
I have spots for 10-12 connections, so I'll probably run at least that many. You're right that there was a device called a StarController that was for setting up an active star topology, but you could also run a passive star topology without one. The book I was reading (mentioned above) said...
I have a basement computer room that I'm wiring up. I have a ton of ethernet drops between it and the rest of the house (fills a 48 port patch panel) and the last thing I need to do is something about a Localtalk network. I can reuse the ethernet runs for localtalk, but would prefer to run...
I think I’ve narrowed it down to problems with the SD to IDE adapters I’m using. If I use an actual IDE hard drive, I can get it working reliably after zapping the pram, the Drive shows back up and everything appears to work.
Some of the IDE adapters I’ve tried will work somewhat, but will...
This G3 is bizarre. I pulled out a known working 2GB IDE drive and installed 9.2.1 from a known good CD-ROM. Formatted and installed fine. Reboot and the hard drive is gone. Doesn't show up in Drive Setup. Doesn't show up after a reboot. Not quite sure what to make of this. It's a Rev.C ROM...
Looks like the G4 upgrade is actually a NewerTech G4 upgrade. Working on tracking down a manual for it to check compatibility, settings, etc.
The machine keeps freezing when I do any significant disk activity, though this may be from the SD to IDE adapter I'm using. I'll have to try and find...
Bought a nice Beige G3 minitower and am working on cleaning it up and getting it restored to its former glory (it was filthy). Have two questions:
1. The previous owner put what appears to be a 400 Mhz G4 from a Yikes in it. I've installed 8.5 and it doesn't recognize the CPU in system...
The PRAM battery has a good charge and the mouse works otherwise fine
I'm mostly using 9.2.2 and running just the PATA to SATA adapter alone.
I have tried both of these adapters with the above symptoms.
I guess I'll try making sure the slots are clean and everything is seated properly.
It's...
I'm having some difficulty with a Quicksilver 933 I've had for a couple years. I don't use it much, but don't remember initially having these issues when I acquired it.
The main problem I'm having is getting it to work with any other types of hard drives other than a standard 3.5" PATA drive. I...
Ah, I know very little about dye sublimation printers, but your labels look fantastic. Do you get premade floppy labels or cut them to size by hand or with a paper cutting machine?
As a side thread, I've marveled at how good your labels for MO drives looked MrFarenheit. Care to share what sort of printer, paper, etc you used to make them? I've tried printing a couple and the labels looks very amateurish and "paper-y". I'd like to figure out how to make labels that look a...
I don't disagree with any of this. I just haven't been able to get Apple II net booting working with netatalk. I'm sure I'm just not doing something right because I think it IS possible to do so. Just haven't been able to do it despite several attempts.
