Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Today I got a copy of possibly the most esoteric release of the movie "This is Spinal Tap".
Two CDs, one with the movie including cast and director's commentary, and a second CD with bonus content. All compatible with any color Macintosh running System 7 or above (68030 recommended)
Oooh this is neat! I'm going to have to look at this and see if I can't adapt it to work with something like the MITM-capable version of Squid I have on my home server instead of depending on that specific openWRT setup.
(Or port the OpenWRT setup to work on mikrotik routers.)
So just to update, I'm still having no luck with this card. I've tried multiple permutations of the cuda button/processor swap, cleaned the card's contacts, put in a brand new PRAM battery, tried re-installing the sonnet drivers over a brand new install of 9.1, removed the factory L2 cache from...
If you know someone who paints warhammer (or other table top game) models they'd probably be able to retouch it for you. It's just screenprinted on stamped aluminum.
Haven't touched it yet, this weekend I'll probably get around to trying again. Also I never knew there were upgrades for the 6400 until seeing that link. Once I get my 6400 repaired I might have to work on tracking one of those down too!
I'd been pushing the CUDA after swapping the processor cards as that's what the sonnet guide said to do, but I'll try it before. I also ordered some new PRAM batteries because the one on the board right now is from a batch I got that were kinda iffy. As far as cards go, I tried the swap before...
I know, we've left most of the "macintosh liberation army" aesthetic behind but I find it fun :v
Anyway, I figured I should make a thread not only for new finds but for a quick glimpse at my old collection as I take them out of the storage unit where they've all sat since 2008.
Yesterday's...
I have a Sonnet Crescendo G3/233 that results in a no-chime condition on my 7300, however a factory processor card works fine. I've removed and re-installed the sonnet drivers and still no luck. Am I correct in assuming the sonnet card is probably bad at this point, or did they sometimes require...
The Visio E221A1 21" TV which is native 1920x1080 and has VGA in has managed to sync with every resolution and frequency I've been able to get out of my 68k macs, including oddball ones like 832x624@72Hz. It's also been able to display the 800x600x95Hz video output on my iMac G3.
So, it's been a while but I've determined that mitmproxy's implementation of SSLv3 is broken and there's no real motivation in their community to fix it at this point. I'm currently building a custom version of Squid that supports SSL bumping with hopes that that will work. I've also found a...
I've got tiger on my G5 and so far I'm just trying to burn ISOs and bin/cues of old CDs I ripped and got rid of back in my decluttering days. They'll read fine on my iMac G3 which is running 9.1 but barely or not at all on my 637CD, which is why I'm wondering if it's the brand of media. Pressed...
Hey!
Does anyone know of CD brands or burners that are more likely to produce discs that can read by these old 2x drives? I have some Sony 700MB CD-Rs which are extremely hit and miss for me but I don't know if Memorex or Vivitar or some other brand works better.
That error code is saying that something in the software is triggering a breakpoint but there's no debugger installed (the default minimal prompt that appears when you press the interrupt button without a debugger doesn't have any breakpoint handling.) Set up a floppy image with macsbug...
Today was a good day. First, an ebay order for six Zip 250 disks came in and to my surprise they were still shrinkwrapped. I popped one in my USB zip drive and my iMac had no problem reading them, which means I can now try to recover all the data off my old zip disks.
Second, I went and picked...
The premise is simple - use mitmproxy as an HTTP/SSL proxy to downgrade SSL connections for systems that don't support TLS 1.1 or 1.2
The execution, not so much. Currently I have it working with Safari on PPC OS X, Classilla on MacOS 9, and an older version of Opera on Windows 98. Trying to...
All I did with mine when I took the bottom case off to get at the PRAM battery was tilt it forward. It hung up on the same clip on mine too and when it let loose it sounded scary but nothing was broken. You might wanna try sliding a narrow spudger in there right in front of the clip to ease it...
So the pram trick didn't work, but curiously leaving it on in sleep mode overnight did. Although it also somehow rendered the hard disk unbootable and unreadable by the restore CD. A reformat and reinstall later and it's up and running just fine, or at least as fine as an 18 year old system with...
I had a similar issue, a SATA 3 SSD would only be recognized in one slot and the G5 wouldn't boot from it at all, I think that in general SATA 3 SSDs are kinda picky, I had an old SATA 1 PC that also wouldn't see the SSD.
Hey y'all, I have an indigo iMac G3 that's exhibiting a weird issue on startup.
I pulled it out of storage after being powered down for ~6 years and the PRAM battery was dead as a doornail - the startup would hang just after the chime with a black screen and the system was completely...
