The marvels of consumer component electronics means that you can just plug in another disk and test your hypothesis.

Ubuntu Feisty Fawn? Hack-a-Mac w/X86 or GX?

Stand up, step away from the computer and seriously consider what you are doing. If you have never touched Linux before then never ever ever ever install it on a machine with another OS you value. If you want to investigate Linux put it on another machine or remove the existing harddisk from...

    LC III questions!

So do you reckon Apple provided a different clock source for the empty FPU socket? Or might it share the same one as the CPU? I'll let you guess.

Ubuntu Feisty Fawn? Hack-a-Mac w/X86 or GX?

I don't have my atomic scales with me, so you'll have to use the datasheet! http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press_kits/2009/Mobility2009/Datasheet-Datasheet.HPMini2140.pdf That sounds plausable, I only have the 3cell battery.

Ubuntu Feisty Fawn? Hack-a-Mac w/X86 or GX?

I have just built my "HP Mini 2140" a month ago from scratch. I used the XP Pro SP2 install disk plus the drivers from the additional HP application disk. No real problems except having to buy a bootable USB CD-ROM drive. :)

    Mac Plus endless re-boots

On a cold boot with 4Mb a MacPlus does take a fair amount of time to go through its memory. That is normal. It does sound like a power-supply issue.

    Posible conquest: LCIII!

Perhaps with all these advances in technology they'll work out how to put a power-switch on the front! Soft-power can be a bugger when after a power-cut the machine insists on turning itself on. I have a number in my rack like that, the problem then is they all start up then blow the trip...

    What?!

See, not even blocking an IP address will stop people having thickshakes.

    What?!

In a world where many people used a DHCP or similarly allocated IP addresses it seems odd to choose that as a way of banning people.

    implementing Carbon

And another thing! Prior to Carbon, all the structures were very very opaque and applications bit twiddle in GrafPort and WindowRecords themselves. Carbon tightned that all up and required accessors. So even if you had a CarbonLib, any application expecting to twiddle its own bits or use low...
