Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
The other upgrade you might want to consider is taking the VRAM to 512KB by adding a 256KB module. The same seller as the RAM has some listed: http://r.ebay.com/wpnmId
The CC has 256KB on board and one slot adjacent to the two RAM slots that can accept a 256KB 68-pin 100ns or faster VRAM...
Wow it's down to 76% relative humidity here today. It's been at 95-99% for weeks. I'm glad I've managed to avoid any machines with moisture sensitive LCDs thus far!
If you want an elaborate solution, you could add some USB HID libraries to a microcontroller and build a USB pushbutton that types 'T'.
You might be able to adapt the following to send the keycode for 'T' when a button is pressed.

Both boards use 603e CPUs, so if all else is equal, and the CPUs are of the same mask revision, the one clocked at 180MHz will consume more power than the one at 120MHz. The difference will be small, in the order of about 1.5w, but maybe that's enough?
Rob Shaw's original post in this thread is good reading if you haven't found it already: https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/comp.sys.mac.portables/kcT1Uf2j3Ac
These batteries have a thermal fuse, something that sounds like a self-resetting polyfuse, and a thermistor. The thermal fuse...
Try disabling AppleTalk in the Chooser if it's enabled, or enabling it if it's disabled. ImageWriter is the correct driver for the ImageWriter II.

I was about to embark on a similar rebuild of my 1400c's battery pack when I decided to see how long it would actually run. Initially, it went into "reserve battery" mode after about five minutes, then into sleep after another five. I was able to wake it back up and it ran for about fifteen...
Does it behave any differently if you try powering on while holding 'T' for FireWire Target mode? If you haven't already, I'd try resetting the power management unit as per Apple's KB here: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT1431
Furthermore, I might try disconnecting the optical drive in case...
Some little voice in my head said "If it isn't 68k, don't put it in the Hacks section." Why I listened to that rationale, I'm not sure, since there's plenty of PPC stuff in Hacks. Thanks for all of the photos and input!
Byrd touched on something I was wondering about with the flexible risers...
Thanks for your post. The pictures were exactly what I needed in regards to the height issue. I also see the 2 slot riser has the PCI slots offset away from the rear panel. Are there any components on the back of the 6400 riser card? I'm thinking if not, I might be able to find a generic PCI...
Has anyone modified a 6360 to accept two PCI cards instead of one? Trash80toHP_Mini, I thought of you right away.
I've had this machine for about twelve years. Not long after I got it, I hunted down a Comm Slot II Ethernet card for it and plunked in a PCI graphics card. I maxxed out the RAM...
Don't take the silence as a lack of interest. I've been following this thread with fascination, but haven't felt I had anything of value to contribute. Seeing off's post with a picture of the UnobtainiumAdapterModule was immensely satisfying. The anticipation of your response was rather...
On the Windows side of things, I have fond memories of WinPlay3 which was a 16-bit Windows 3.x MP3 player. It could optionally play back 44.1KHz files at a lower sampling rate (22050Hz) and in mono or a stereo downmix in order to manage real-time decoding on limited hardware. It actually...
That's pretty slick. The 3020 was a pretty common FPGA for a number of years, so I imagine there's development boards and software out there somewhere.
It's a RAM expansion card. Those eight parallel black components are the RAM ICs. They're in the fairly unusual ZIP (rather than DIP) packaging. I recognized that much, and a search for "Macintosh Portable"+Xilinx yielded this...
It looks like Apple Hardware Test (iBook) 1.2.4 is compatible with your machine. http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/apple-hardware-test-cds I'd boot from that and run diagnostics on everything.
That's really weird. I haven't done a CF swap on a full sized iPod before. I've done it on a number of iPod minis- they have a MicroDrive, so a CF card can be used as a direct replacement, no adapter necessary.
