imac G4 700 "Lamp" CD works in OSX but not in 9.2.1

As for seeing a system summary in Mac OS 9, you'll want to open Apple System Profiler.  It's often in the Apple menu by default.

Panasonic KX-P2123 serial printing to powerbook?

You want the KX-PS11 RS-232C serial interface board. (Not current loop) Current loop interfaces use current instead of voltage for signalling and are advantageous for very long cable runs where voltage drop would be an issue. They are not directly compatible with ordinary computer serial...

    Clamshell iBook!

Something worth investigating is what document file formats are typically used for your coursework. Sometimes Word 95 (.doc) is used, which won't pose a problem for Word 2001 or later on the Mac. Some compatibility-minded instructors or campuses work with RTF which should be manageable with...

    Javascript slows down a G4

My suggestion for the OP is to disable JavaScript in Classilla and see if the performance improvement outweighs any loss of functionality. It's going to limit the usability of some sites, but others will work fine.

    Clamshell iBook!

TarableCode, did you use a battery rebuild service in Canada for your iBook battery? Shipping battery packs across the border into the US can be a headache and $50 seems very reasonable to me. EDIT: thought I'd add, inspired by your Pi Zero W Wifi USB adapter, I'm sourcing an Ethernet hat for...

    Clamshell iBook!

Yup!  The adapter you've linked to is compatible.  The seller helpfully notes that it is the older style with the thicker DC plug, which is what you need.  That model of iBook came with either 32 or 64MB of RAM soldered to the logic board.  Adding a 256MB module is officially supported in...

help with USB floppy drive on Powerbook G4

I did a little research into different buying options for electronics in Ecuador, and I found some info that may be useful to you: http://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=622594    I did a search for "floppy" on Mercado Libre and came up with this result...

help with USB floppy drive on Powerbook G4

I think it's your particular drive that's not cooperating. Reading the reviews on Amazon, I came across a couple where buyers got drives that worked on Windows, but not on Mac OS. One reviewer mentioned that it would work in Windows 10, but not in Mac OS X 10.6 or 10.9. Based on more reviews...

7.6 will not boot to partition # 2 (Color Classic II)

Sorry, what I meant is that the CN50 (Centronics 50) connector in your last link is the wrong type of connection. If a suitable cable exists, it will have one male IDC50 connector and two female IDC50 connectors. It's not a standard configuration for a SCSI cable. There is a chance that such...

7.6 will not boot to partition # 2 (Color Classic II)

No that one won't fit either. Each connector is the wrong gender and the CN50 connector isn't the same as an IDC50 connector. It's the Centronics-style 50-pin connector often seen on external hard drive enclosures.

7.6 will not boot to partition # 2 (Color Classic II)

No. Those cables will not work in your Color Classic chassis. The existing SCSI cable is permanently attached to the logic board backplane connector, so it can't be replaced with a cable like this without serious hacking. I'm pretty sure that a male IDC50 to 2x female IDC50 cable doesn't exist.

Connecting a ImageWriter II To a Modern computer

On x64 Windows, 64-bit System components reside in %WINDIR%\System32\. 32-bit components are in %WINDIR%\SysWOW64\. It seems backwards, I know! %WINDIR%\System\ used to be for 16-bit compatibility, but I'm unsure if it has a role now.

How did you get into this?

I've had my MP2100 since 2006. It was a Buy it Now item on eBay with cover, stylus, 4MB flash card, PC Card modem, DE-9 (PC) serial cable, AA tray, NiMH pack, and AC adapter. I thought it was a little spendy at about $80 shipped, but it was in nice shape and I really wanted one. If memory...

Wallstreet battery & optiical drive issues

Making a replacement PRAM battery pack sounds like a sensible option. I bought a new old stock Apple part for my Wallstreet a few years ago. It was dead as a doornail when it arrived. I managed to get it to charge leaving the PowerBook on for an extended period. Within a few weeks, it was...

    Windows NT on Power Macs

When I last tried getting USB to function in NT 4.0, all I was able to do was get input devices recognized. I specifically needed to get a USB colorimeter and mass storage devices to work, but I didn't have success with either. Have there been improvements since then?

A crazy idea: original 2001 iPod on modern Mac?

iTunes 2.0 is the first version compatible with your iPod. 2.0.4 is the latest version of 2.x and it recommends Mac OS 9.2.1, but only requires 9.0.4 at a minimum. Mac OS 9.1 is required for CD burning features. If you already have 9.0.4, it should work. I've been fiddling around with iTunes...

    Finds Thread

The 950 has four VRAM SIMM slots plus 1MB VRAM on the logic board. VRAM SIMMs must be installed in pairs of four and only 256KB per slot is addressable. If there are any VRAM SIMMs installed, try removing them all and see if startup changes with only the soldered VRAM. Edit: If you haven't...

A crazy idea: original 2001 iPod on modern Mac?

I can confirm my 2004 4th Gen iPod 20GB still syncs with the latest iTunes in Sierra with a FireWire connection. (9-pin to 6-pin adapter) I expect yours will function on the rMBP with a Thunderbolt to FireWire and FW 9 to 6-pin adapter. The USB to FireWire adapters are junk and can be a good...
