Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
I've messed with a PC-4 and owned a PC-7. The PC-4 is much nicer hands down. Trying to type on the membrane keyboard that was in alphabetical order instead of QWERTY sucked.
I didn't write Mac shareware, but did write some PC shareware back in the DOS days, mainly focused around FASA's BattleTech universe. Contacted FASA to make sure my programs were OK with them, which it was as long as I did not include any of their maps or mech's stats. Only 12 registrations in...
I don't have it in my possession yet. I saw it in a junk bin at the local flea market and wanted to see if I could get it to power on and show something on the screen before making an offer. It looks to be in pretty good shape considering its age.
I found a 5300ce at the flea market without a power supply. What is the voltage and amperage required for it? I have a couple of power supplies for the Lombard and Wallstreet II models, but they don't fit.
I would check to see if it was set to Master or Slave. I have a CF-IDE adapter for laptops that strangely sets itself up for Slave mode on my Wallstreet II. I used a different adapter and it worked. Weird.
I found an academic version of Illustrator CS for the Mac at a nearby thrift store for $3. It goes along nicely with the copy of Toast 5 and Photoshop 7 I found from there a few months ago. :) I just hope it runs well on a dual G4/450.
On the cheapo one I had I just cut off the extra pin with a pair of wire cutters.
It worked on my Wallstreet II with an 8GB card. Tried it for a while with MacOS 9.22, then my Thinkpad T22 died so its 40GB hard disk is now in there.
I'm trying it with a Wallstreet II, with mixed results.
A Syba adapter is being used (I'll take pictures this evening), and doesn't appear to contain any extras as far as ICs on the board. A Centon 8GB 133x CF card is being used. When it is connected, I can install MacOS 9 and MacOS X to it...
I bought a IdeaPad S10 for my wife last summer. It's ok except for that damned keyboard (shift key, small keys, no dedicated F12, etc). It would be nice if the video drivers allowed for a virtual desktop like the original EEE PC I reloaded. 1024x576 is a bit small. She uses that primarily...
Could be. Currently mine is running XP. I've tried CrunchBang Statler on it with an 8GB CF drive and it was OK. I tried to run Osmos on it and it was an exercise in patience. Mines played OK on it though. Under XP I have VB.NET and C#.NET 2010 Express installed. They work, but are...
I had a Compaq D530 sitting around and gave it to a coworker. She brought her old one in so I took what I wanted out of it and will recycle the rest.
512MB RAM (PC 133)
40GB hard disk
CD-ROM drive
It has a video card and an old USB card in it but I don't have a need for those.
Thanks to...
The closest I have come is to use an 8 GB Compact Flash card with a CF-IDE adapter. For general usage it's ok, but a little slow on writes. Currently it's running CrunchBang 10 with swap disabled on a Jetway Via C7 1ghz board.
While having an SSD would be nice, its a bit out of my price range...
Which 3dfx card, the Voodoo 1/2 or the Voodoo 3/4/5?
If it is the Voodoo 1/2, you can just use Mac drivers for them with no flashing. If one of the others http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ has some info about them under their Video section. Scroll waaaaay down. :)
The Voodoo 3 reminds me of the...
I have installed Tiger several times with a supported Mac (in my case a Sawtooth G4), then put the drive back in my Lombard without issue. It can run Tiger without changes, but the installer won't run directly on it.
Doing it this way you avoid any issues with XPostFacto. The only time I used...
I found a TEAC DVW-DV11 standalone DVD duplicator at the thrift store for $30. It says as-is, but appears to be pristine - no dust on the rear fan blade or on the inside. I plugged it in and everything seemed OK. We'll see if it works once I get home.
