Happy Tenth to the B/W G3!

^^or by using an external firewire or USB2 + pci card I have to say I love the B&W, I got one on ebay only a couple of years back simply cos I remember when they were released and I was desperate to get one but couldn't afford it. They still have a lot of uses.

    G4 1.42 Dual

^^does it have the LC040 or the full 040 with FPU. I'd stick it in the CC, the speed boost and extra RAM will make it a sweet little machine. As for the OP's question, the 9700 is a nice card and would work great in the Dual G4.

    Universal installer 4.0.2 for mac

I've had great results with the drivers from System7today: http://main.system7today.com/helpcenter.html they actually seem fine with systems 7-9.

    Strange Blue/Whie G4 behavior

    ^^I'm guessing, weird Apple prototypes aside, that it's a B&W G3 with a G4 Zif upgrade.

    Newtons, nBlog, and blogging: opinions?

^^To be (painfully) honest, I wouldn't bother. My MP2000 is online and I've spent ages fully specing it out with peripherals but only becuase I'm a collector. The Newton can be a pain to surf with, it's not very fast and sometimes even seeing WiFi connection can be very impossible, plus you...

    Strange Blue/Whie G4 behavior

I have read reports in the past of the onboard ethernet for Yosemitie and Yikes (the worst culprits) boards going very wrong, it may be time to get a PCI ethernet card. I'm assuming that you havent done anything strange software wise. The only other thing I can think of is to give this machine...

    iMac G3 backwards compatibility

^^seconded, the time taken to transfer using 3.5" floppies quickly adds up, you'll soon learn to love an ethernet card.

    G4 1.42 Dual

That is still a very capable machine, especially since you've maxed out the RAM. What graphics card are you running in it? For internet browsing, emailing, using older photoshop versions, light gaming, light digital video work, the dual G4's are still good. Should keep you going for quite a...

    B&W DVD Decoder

The stock card should have the required decoder, you don't have to connect the drive straight to the card, just install as usual and it will work through the PCI slot. If you're running OS X then your buggered too, the decoder is classic os only AFAIK.

5300 Brand New Sealed In Box

I'd take it if they paid me $150. My 5300 suffered from every known problem, it's the only machine I've ever just thrown in the bin.

    Power Macintosh 7200 and a G3

System 7 is compatible with the 7200 Sonnet card so try re-setting the CPU and RAM, if still no joy then try with the original CPU, if it still doesn't work then you could have a faulty card so call Sonnet on Monday.

    9500 case with new hardware???

    ^^You need a Hard Dive.

    9500 case with new hardware???

If you really feel the urge and have deep pockets then you could have in the 9500, a G4 1ghz, 1.5 GB of RAM, Radeon 9200, 2X Internal HD's and 6 PCI cards (including the GPU) so you could have USB, FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet etc. OS 9 would run pretty sweet on this setup.

    9500 case with new hardware???

I'd suspect that any modern motherboard is going to require a fair bit of tweaking to get into the 9500 case. Frankly why would you want to? The 9500 is pretty evil as cases go and not friendly for upgrades. If you want to go the modding route then I'd suggest a B&W G3 case as I've found...

iMac G5 RAM and Hard Drive

That RAM should be fine, OWC sells it too. As for a hard drive, 320 - 500 GB is a pretty good size, but get a firewire external. That way you can switch it between machines easily.

OK, make sure you've downloaded the relevant drivers: http://www.ff.iij4u.or.jp/~ngc/eng/newtwave.htm Set your base station to WEP or unencrypted. go into Owner info and set up a new worksite and add all your details, wifi setup etc in there. Then when you use Newtscape (or whatever) to...

    I has a fast (non-Apple)

I'm hoping and praying that the new iMacs (which should arrive in January) will be using the i7 cpu, at least the top of the range one. I've been holding on to my late '06 one as nothing since has been really worth the upgrade price but the i7 would be by all accounts.

^^are you UK based? I have a spare 150 Mhz 604 cpu that I'd let go for a couple of quid.
