    Pismo

Woo. I really liked my sister's when I worked on it, and love my Lombard to death. ...Actually, kinda literally 'to death'. It's starting to have cache problems. :p But nice score. :)

    Locking Lomard

Hmm. Will the heatsink cover from a Pismo improve the cooling of a Lombard, or is what you said here... ...referring to the whole cooling system overall (and not just the cover)?

    Locking Lomard

Mine appears to do that, too. Usually, when I'm using it, it'll work for a good amount of time (maybe 3-4 hours), then it'll start acting funny. Once, when I had OS 9 on it, I got the dreaded error saying the cache was (or was going) bad. If I leave it for a while, I can use it again for...

    Quicksilver G4!

I noticed that my former Cube and this QS have only 3 RAM slots; I haven't had any MDDs, but I'm guessing they have 4 slots, each with a max. capacity of 512MB. That would explain the 1.5GB limit on the QS and Cube (and possibly others).

    PowerBook screen unexpectedly dims

My 15" PowerBook, running Leopard, has recently been showing some weird problem. In the Energy Saver prefs for both Power Adapter and Battery settings, I have it set so as not to dim the screen before display sleep. However, the screen still dims after a few minutes of machine inactivity, no...

    Intel Macs and Appletalk printers

Leopard does indeed work fine. I've got my LaserWriter 320 hooked up to my PowerCenter 132, running OS 8.1 and LocalTalk bridge. All of my Leopard machines are able to print to it. Though, I haven't had an Intel machine in this house long enough to test it out. I dunno if Intel is the...

    LaserWriter 4/600 with 6000 Pages!!!

If that's the case, then cartridges are (relatively) dirt cheap. I remember looking on eBay back in November, and seeing some for $15, buy-it-now.

    LaserWriter 4/600 with 6000 Pages!!!

Nice score. I found a LaserWriter 320 with about 40,900 pages on it back in July 07, and it's still working perfectly. The cartridge that it came with must have been relatively new, since it has yet to run out. I have it on all the OS X machines, and my eMachines (with XP) had it connected...

Belkin F5D7011 Wifi Card (airport compatible) (edited)

Yeah, those "some" are revs 1315 and 1112 of the F5D7010. Not all of the 7010s work, but those (with the red/yellow label) do work flawlessly.

Belkin F5D7011 Wifi Card (airport compatible) (edited)

I've had exremely bad luck with cards with this label. The ONLY Belkin cards I've gotten to work before are the F5D7010, rev 1315. They have a yellow and red label. The F5D7010 (specifically rev 1315, and 1112 IIRC) does have plug-and-play OS X support; my sister's using one in her Pismo...

Original AirPort card, 2x Pro Keyboard, Pro Mouse!

The AirPort card will prolly go into my Quicksilver, not sure about the keyboards and mouse though.

Original AirPort card, 2x Pro Keyboard, Pro Mouse!

I was able to grab an Airport card and iMac carrier, 2 black Pro Keyboards, and a black Pro Mouse from a pile of 'trash' today. Can't wait to get home :D

OS 7-9 network login during boot

Yeah. Go into the Chooser, and click the server, as if you were connecting to it again. When you input the right user/pass, and you're at the shares window, uncheck the checkboxes. The checkboxes are there for if you want the Mac to connect to the share every time you start up. Normally...

    Quicksilver G4!

"Cosmetic upgrade"? This is actually one of the more uglier products I've seen of Apple. I don't like the front at all. :p

    Quicksilver G4!

I honestly just haven't noticed; the majority of my RAM comes from machines I've inherited in some particular way. Well, except my 512MB stick, which I bought new a few months ago. Still in school, anticipating the last bell in about 20 minutes :-/

    Quicksilver G4!

When I get home later (on iPhone in pre-calc now :p ), I'll try some other sticks in it. I remember that stick particularly working in my Cube, and seeing that it was PC100. That stick is the one that's reportedly not working.

    Quicksilver G4!

It was the stick. I didn't realize one of my 256MB DIMMs is PC100, and the Quicksilver only sees 133. Oh, well. 768MB is plenty for me. I can always add another 128MB to get 896MB, if I really needed it.

    Quicksilver G4!

Update: It works! I'm posting from it now. SWEET. :D I have 1GB of RAM installed, but it's only seeing 768MB. I'm about to try that stick in another slot. I put a 30GB HD in, with Leopard. :D
