    Dollar Tree goodies

Today at Dollar Tree, I got a few things: 2 USB male to female cables (60") 2 Firewire 400 cables (24") USB notebook light Memory card case 4 electric outlet grounders Grand total: $8 Not too too Mac-related, but I found out that Dollar Tree can be an awesome source for cheap cables...

    PowerBook G3 (Lombard)

No, that application was designed for OS 9 only. If the utility from Apple doesn't work, you could always try "Battery Amnesia", but I've never used it. Also, you might want to try running 10.3, or 10.4 if you get just a bit more RAM. They're much more compatible OSes, and 10.3+ was something...

    PowerBook G3 (Lombard)

I've had the circle-slash thing times-a-plenty with my Lombard. Is the HD a Toshiba? If so, try formatting it as Mac OS Extended, but not journaled. I can't tell you how many problems I've had with Jaguar and that freaking sign. It all stopped once I formatted my drive as non-journaled...

    PowerBook G4 RAM

I just got my shipment of 2x1GB sticks of RAM for my PowerBook. I ordered them on Wednesday night, and would have had them sooner, but UPS ground doesn't ship on the weekend. Kinda steep, though; I paid $110 for two sticks of DDR 333 PC2700. But the PowerBook is -really- snappy now. :)

    Power PC G4

Wait; it came with an AirPort 'extreme' card, or a regular AirPort card? If the latter, nice score; those are a bit lusted after today. If the former, what model tower is it? If it really is an AirPort extreme card, then you've got yourself a nice tower, 'cause it's possibly a...

    Pseudoworking 22" Cinema Display + DA G4

Right now, I'm actually working on getting the lines off that Cinema display. I've found a couple pressure points that make the lines show up and disappear, so I'm trying to find (inside) where those points are.

    Pseudoworking 22" Cinema Display + DA G4

Oops. It's a digital audio. Not a gigabit ethernet.

    Pseudoworking 22" Cinema Display + DA G4

I found a 22" Cinema Display today. Upon powering it, I find out it looks like this: http://i29.tinypic.com/qxwcp2.jpg I also scored a gigabit ethernet G4, but nothing happens when you hit the power button. I guess the power supply might be bad or something. Oh, well. Not too too bad for...

An iMac G4 sitting by a trash can?! Jeez. Nice score.

Getting the PowerBook 180 online via LocalTalk Bridge

You have to set AppleTalk on the Performa to whatever your internet connection is on; in this case, that would be ethernet. Think of it as the iMac and Performa are creating an AppleTalk network, and the Performa is forwarding the connection to the PowerBook using the LocalTalk Bridge.

    IBM NetVista 6833-45U

My RIMMs and CRIMMs came today. The machine is now happily chugging along on XP. :) Specs (for now): 1.4GHz PIV 13GB HD 256MB RAM 32MB VRAM I'm gonna keep my eyes out for cheap(ish) RIMMs, and I'm prolly gonna drop the 80GB HD in here from the iMac G4, after replacing that one with a...

    Should I or shouldn't I?

Hmm. Last time this happened to me, I had a Genius Bar appointment at the local Apple store (which is about that far away from me), so I was killing two birds with one stone. If I had the extra cash to go get 'em, I would. My G3 333 tower is really nice.

    Power Macintosh 7200/120

Best of luck with it. I found a 7200/90 on the side of the road when I was in 6th grade, and it worked all the way up through my Sophomore high school year last year. I think I accidentally zapped the board in the winter. x_x I loved mine, though. :)

    IBM NetVista 6833-45U

I know how the POSTs work, thanks for the info. I just bought 2 128MB sticks for $23 (with shipping), so we'll see how that turns out.

    IBM NetVista 6833-45U

I found one of these in a computer recycling bin today. It's got no RAM, and no HD. It uses RIMMs, though, none of which I have. I might buy 2x128MB on eBay, but I'm not sure. I have to look and see what money I have, and whether or not it's worth it to buy the RAM. But when I plug it in...

    My68kSpace

We already have a 68kMLA group on Facebook... ...and someone made a MySpace profile. I know this isn't what was originally intended (as someone mentioned an actual site as opposed to the groups listed above), but I'm just throwing those out there.

    homemade beef jerky and cookies!

While at work, some lady gave me back a coupon from the "instant savings" printer for $2.00 off any brand/flavor mouthwash. It's no beef jerky, but it sure will keep my mouth clean when I use it!

Picked up a Belkin TuneCast FM Transmitter

This is why AirTunes + Rogue Amoeba's AirFoil are awesome. I hated my tunecast; it used way too many batteries.
