Bleh, if I brought my iBook G3 to school I'd bet a fair amount of money that
A) A teacher would yell at me for "playing games" (MS Word is a game?) or
B) It would get stolen out of my locker. Fast :p
I had an old broken external CD Drive that wasn't compatible with an CD600e. I took the cable that took 68 pin(50 Pin?) external connector and made it into 50 pin internal connector and plug the SCSI cable directly into that, turned it on and worked with an external PSU. ugly, but works on all...
Here's is a quick video of opening it. Sorry about the music in the background, I just got a new record player and it has been playing non stop for a awhile... :p
Ok, do one at a time. Slide it back, and put your finger under the ESC key. Lift that corner, Then do the same with the other side. Each is easier seperate.
In between Esc and F1 there is a tab, and another between F11 and Eject(F12) Slide them back and lift at the same time. They have little tabs in them that hold it in.
Standard 100/133mhz SO-Dimms. It has 128mb soldered. The tray-loading iMacs use the same type. 10.4won't boot with less then 196, iirc, so you'll want to put another So-Dimm in there.
Try opening a .sit file on another computer, then burning a CD with the uncompressed file on it, and then put in in the iBook, drag it to the desktop, then try it.

I got this today, and I haven't tried it though. What interesting is the lack of a power plug. So it it powered by SCSI I guess? Cool though. It's called Desktop EN/SC.
The reason I said that was because you said 160gb drive :) I'd think you meant 160MBs. Thats basically the same as me. I swim, like baseball, and didn;t play with "toys" eg, Action Figures (dolls :p )
