Yes, BLU will do exactly what you want. see: http://sigmasevensystems.com/blumanual.html
You want H)ard Disk Functions -> R)ead from Disk to Serial Port - this will transfer from the Lisa's Serial port B at 56.7Kbps to another machine over X/Modem - note on Linux that I've had issues with...
So your goal is to make disk images of these floppies as quickly as possible, and hope that they haven't degraded.
Might I ask what these disks are, if they're labeled? There are few Lisa softwares that haven't already been imaged, but you never know. Do you know what OS they are for? The Lisa...
I've got a 3.5" external Mac floppy drive, but looks like shell around the connector was slightly bent and the pins inside are also bent. I've straightened them as best as I could using a small flat screwdriver but can't get the connector to insert. Anyone have tricks for getting these type of...
oh hey, so I wonder if it's not that grounded SW signal that's causing the missing mouse, maybe you can negate one of the outputs of the X line or the Y line using a NOT gate (and change code accordingly) - maybe the COP421 doesn't like that both X1 and X2 and Y1 and Y2 are all 0V at the same...
The Lisa's (and some Apple ]['s with a mouse card - but not ADB ones!, Mac 128, 512, 512KE) rodent is digital. Signals are sent via an optical encoder along the two X and two Y pins. You're not going to be able to use an analog mouse.
You'll need to send a train of pulses in the right axis bits...
I mean.. there's not that many capacitors, sure there's a filtering cap for each chip, but they're almost all the same kinds. So it might be worth your time to hit digikey or jameco or some other place and buy a few dozen caps as needed and replace them all without waiting for the ESR meter, and...
You'd need an ESR meter. Some of the newer ones will work without needing to desolder one end of the cap. Like this guy: https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Capacitor-Internal-Resistance-Circuit/dp/B0755KL87Z/
I bought this one, but it's no longer available...
Yes, that's a clue, that smells like a capacitor somewhere, but which?
What happens when you press the power button after a period of inactivity and it doesn't turn on? Do you hear any clicking? If so that's an issue inside the power supply (voltage overflow crowbar) and usually points to one...
U7F is in the schematic - that triangle with a line through it's nose facing left to the immediate left of the red circled J1-119 that has 2 written to it's left and 1 written to it's right.
This is a hex buffer DIP chip but you only see one of the 6 gates in the schematic. It should have 14...
That would be U7F which looks like a 7417 NOT gate to me between its pins 1 and 2.I'd try to measure the resistance between pin 2 on U7F and pin 20 instead, and pin 1 to Q11, and pin 1 and J1-119
Hmm, actually I'm wrong, just looked it up and 7417 seems to be a hex buffer, not an inverting...
That's pretty odd. Is there anything attached to that parallel cable? the parallel port goes to VIA2, but if there's nothing attached to it, it's indicating some sort of capacity problem. Parallel cables for the Lisa are just straight through 25 pin to 25 pin, one of the pins is not used and the...
Ah sorry, I was assuming that was your board. So some of what I said isn't applicable. I don't know about the solder, likely you'll have to clean it with liquid flux, I can tell you for sure they used leaded solder in the Lisa due to the age. If you're using the silver stuff, it might not mix...
That pin 119 you can solve by using a bit of solder, or a small jumper wire, but...
see that bar over the PWRSW? It means the signal is negated. So that means that when the power switch is not pressed there should be a +5V signal.
You can see in the schematic that there's a +5B2 going to a...
Yeah, this thread is about converting a Widget hard disk image taken with BLU to a dc42 image useable in LisaEm. There's some code to do this in the tools, but it doesn't fully work yet.
The error message means it's a disk image it doesn't recognize, I think because it's too short. BLU has the...
Wonder if one of the new caps is either a fake or defective, or if something else went bad elsewhere. But yeah, those wiggles are a classic sign and since you say you've swapped PSUs and one works and the other doesn't, for sure there's something wrong with that one PSU.
If you plan on doing...
