Ladles and Jellyspoons!
It is with great pleasure that this evening at 12.30 midnight UTC i am
able to offer you a once in a lifetime opportunity.
An opportunity that you will, i hope in memory you will also share
with your children upon the time you reach and revel in your quiet
days of...
we could also do with getting rid of the idea of the RC being about an 'endurance' challenge - largely that was dropped as an active 'idea' a couple of years ago, its really all about 'projects' and 'things'.
nobody just uses retro kit through the month anymore, people push themselves to do...
cant say for 68k but would doubt it - the version being used for the WWU is a universal binary so you are in if you have a PPC Mac thats good enough.
check out the doom-retrochallenge site and take it from there/
Hurrah!
in time we will be crowned kings i tell ya!
Remember folks the Winter Warm Up is just around the corner, take the tarps off those old systems and get them tuned up for the month of January.
Onward!
so really then, we have a bunch of oldies ( i generalize) who understand the community aspect and a bunch of newbies who 'dont get it'
?
would that be a better way of framing it??
and (as basic is that is) from that, would a solution be easier forth coming from that perspective?
that was a little off don't you think? My comments were general statements and you feel the need to turn it arou d and blame the issue (in a back handed way at that) on my behaviour?
What aspect of my behaviour are you suggesting is a problem?
Why did you feel the need to make this personal?
well i have kinda been away for a wee while as far as active posting - outwith the RC channel anyway.
golly whats to be said - what happened?
there was always banter in each thread by people; you were in essence talking to another person about the repair or problem in question - over time you...

saying all of that - i wonder how a duel floppy SE would fair without a fan - they had them too after all.
anyway -thanks again
hello wacky - its been a while.
anyway from that you mean just pull it out and stick another one in?
seems simple enough - any provisions or traps i need be aware off?
my fan is noisy!
i am sure that it is no noisier than anyone else's fan, but recently its been bugging me.
has anyone ever ran their SE without the fan?
i assume it would be more flaky than usual.
really i want the machine used more than it is, i want it standing as a telnet terminal, but...
What machine are you installing 7.1 on, and do you have another old Mac to verify the network disk you made? Pretty much any Mac that came with a floppy drive will boot from the 7.5 network disk -so the disk wasn't made correctly or the Mac.....?
As said the 7.5 disk is available free as is...

it seems that i had dirty contacts at location J4 from the pdf above. weird and simple.
the plus has been running for 40mins - which is 30-35mins longer that it has ever done before.
happy days .

History? eBay!
I had thought power myself. It clearly starts up ok -mostly- so from that I figured that a joint expanding and then failing as it got hotter. As said the ram had been changed to known working and the obvious joints to re-solder have been done I think. I suppose I was wondering if...
