Ok so I know you all have been talking about the SCSI raid card. Here is mine. I removed the daughter board with the battery on it.. that’s all I need is for it to leak. Question: does the scsi raid card require this daughter board? Can I peel off the battery and put it back? I realize it’s just...
So just to circle back... I have inherited another 500/132 and a 700/200... Very excited.. The other 500 has the SCSI raid card and all the drives are in it. That machine had a DAT drive in it. It is an HP 1533 DDS2 Apple blessed with the sticker. I'll take a pic at some point for you all...
Trag thanks I have that same cd set with the Legado. 4.1.5 would have been a later offered cd to people way after the fact. Thanks for checking though.
I do have another memory question! So I have found 5v ram that works.. and everything is fine. The only difference is it is Non-Parity where...
Nice!!!! The Main Logic board should have the following capacitors: (9) 47uf @ 16v, (2) 10uf @16v, (3) 100uf @6v, I have also done the processor board.. those are ALL 47uf @16v.. I can't remember how many.. Like 12 or something.. I would expect the same for the 200mhz board.. again I cannot over...
Well I switched mine out with Tantalums and it’s humming fine.. I’d rather do it now and before I forget and years down the line they dry out or worse leak! 😊
The amount of Mac Portable boards and SE/30 and classics I’ve done just shows what years of sitting smd electrolytics can do…
So I recapped the MLB for the ANS server. There were only 13 SMD caps.. 2 - 10uf 16v, 3 - 100 6v, 8 - 47uf 16v. I've done this on some other 90's machines I have... I am all about preventative maintenance, and I'll just forget and they will dry out or leak at some point. At any rate I replaced...
Now I just need to locate a copy of AIX 4.1.5 update.... hmmmm.... I guess 4.1.4 has a lot of bugs and 4.1.5 fixes a lot.. I just cannot locate it. I do have an original 4.1.4 install cd... thanks to anyone in advance!
Trag yoru so correct! But even back then I hated tape drives.... it was such a painful task!!! That sometimes took HOURS!!! It was good for the moment of time but beyond that now it no longer serves a purpose. I just could not believe how much those tape drives went for back then... ridiculous...
Nevermind.... got it all figured out.. between physical volumes and volume groups and making a file system on the external drive... :) Beat's tape backup... junk...
I thought I would start a new thread. Is there anyone that is proficient with AIX on the board? I am trying to back up the primary hdisk0 drive on the ANS 500 to the external SCSI port. I am at the point where it see's the external as a physical volume and it has it assigned it hdisk1. So it is...

I'm totally confused... Trag or Scutboy... would you terribly mind taking a look at your connector for the SCSI and termination pins for me for your DAT drive?? I have another person telling me the connector should plug in all the way starting over from the left over the termination pins (1st...
