Thank you for the tip! That is the plan, @BadGoldEagle helped me out a while back finding a candidate with a good 5 V rail (and lots of other stuff).
I checked every detail, key, power cord, keyboard, and video, and I even unplugged the KVM shared with an IIfx.
The symptoms were plain silence...
A weekend of power supply madness that I thought would end after successfully re-capped my IIsi PSU on Sunday turned for the worse when I noticed my Q950 wouldn’t start anymore. I feel cursed, or at least that the IIsi sucked the life out of the Q950.
@BadGoldEagle , how is the project coming...
Problem solved. The problem turned out to be a faulty daughter card. I switched to another daughter card from a broken PSU. I changed the polarity orientation of one capacitor (100 µF 6.3 V) following Maccaps reference. Still, I’m not sure if it made any difference or if the old daughter card...
I just finished re-capping an IIsi Sony PSU, and it passed the smoke test. However, the PSU won’t start -- it only clicks. This is my first PSU re-cap that I have performed myself, and I’m a bit lost as to where I should look first. Any help is truly appreciated.
I finally got around to do some more testing, and it seems as if my SCSI2SD 6 2020c has some issues regarding the stock SCSI-bus in the Quadra 950? It worked without a hitch together with a Jackhammer, but since I wanted to Install A/UX, I had to choose between the Jackhammer and Apple CD 300...
Thanks, and yes, that is correct, just open the caddy and put the CD inside. It is not the most convenient way, but it feels more professional.
Recap is almost always a good idea, but floppy drive failure is usually due to other factors; broken eject gears and headers.
No PDS card, but a WGS card would be fun to have. I’m running tests in HDT 2.0 right at this moment and ID 0 just failed! So, there is definitely something going on with SD or SCSI2SD card. I’ll have to dig deeper.
Good input!
I have tried a couple of drivers, but no difference in behaviour.
I’m gonna try a new SD-Card. Next, I’ll remove the A/UX partitions just to see what happens.
Hello,
I have a Quadra 950, with a SCSI2SD version 6, set up for four SCSI HD devices at 2 GB each (ID 0, 1, 2 and 3).
After installing A/UX on SCSI ID 1 using the partition map and the guidance from the A/UX Server Penelope, I have some trouble installing and using System 7.5.3 (only with Open...
I’ve been spending more time with my Quadra 950 recently. After successfully recapping and restoring an internal caddy-loaded 300 drive, I decided it was time to have a CD-equipped tower. But just as for many before me, the bezel-less front became an eyesore. So I decided to design my own.
You...
Well, the flyback I ordered had the correct specification, and making the switch went without a hitch. It came as part of an old Mac Plus upgrade kit that besides the flyback, contained some capacitors and diodes (nothing spells old computer parts like an OCR and Optima typed box). However, the...
I bought a pricy new old stock 157-0042C (I hope!?) flyback yesterday; since I’m in Sweden, everything becomes twice as expensive (shows how desperate I am @maceffects ;)). Anyway, I was poking around the old Artmix site to find more information about the Hyper Power Supply Rev. 4.1 to see if it...
Thank you all for your prime conclusions. I’m not going to take the easy way out. Instead, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for a replacement analogue board or a new old stock flyback transformer. I’ll start by posting my needs in the trading section, and then I’ll jump on the eBay train. Eventually, we...
