    USB2LT TashTalk Usb to LocalTalk

2.1 should be the version I used yesterday, but I will double check just to be sure.

Announcing and interest check: Integrated AirTalk for PowerBook 100 series

I know there are other solutions which use SCSI which will be faster, but it seems a fun thing to implement and it could be handy for slow laptops like the 100. I did more tests, and it seems to work pretty well and seems quite stable. Do you know if there are tools I can use to measure network...

@cheesestraws How difficult do you think it would be to implement MacIP on the ESP and make it an IP gateway? ;)

    USB2LT TashTalk Usb to LocalTalk

Sure! I can send it to you. For the moment I built only this one, I will try to make another one and see. There are a couple things I want to verify as I've been scratching my head all day * Programming: I programmed 2.0 with my PicKit 3, it works for 1.0 so I assume there are no caveats here...

Announcing and interest check: Integrated AirTalk for PowerBook 100 series

Good news! No inverted sockets this time, no fuming regulators... it works! Here it is neatly installed in my powerbook 100: And here it is transferring some stuff to Mini vMac: I tried it with the case closed, and works too. One thing I did not think about is isolation since there are...

    Mac Plus/SE Performer accelerator build

What is the 68000 used for? Does it initially boot and then switch the processor? I'm asking because I'm gathering some information to see if it is possible to condense this accellerator to fit in a powerbook 100 CPU daughter board, since the signals are the same as the SE PDS slot. But that...

Thank you for helping me on this! :)

    USB2LT TashTalk Usb to LocalTalk

Here you go! Sorry for potato quality. Blue is one of the differential lines on the RS422, Yellow is the LocalTalk D/RE on the TT, purple is the LocalTalk IO pin of TT. This should be one packet and it's response, at 100uS/div This is the zoomed out one at 1mS/div And this is the whole...

    USB2LT TashTalk Usb to LocalTalk

This is the complete log of one transaction. Sorry it is a bit long and confusing :) This is the transmitter side, TT 2.0 with USB2LT, set as node 31 sending to node 32. I highlighted the frame being sent to TT: And this is the receiving side, TT 1.0 with an FTDI converter: So it seems it...

    USB2LT TashTalk Usb to LocalTalk

Ok I tried this and I'm scratching my head a bit. I'm using your python program which I modified just to send my packet. I open two instances, one writes the DDP packet (node 31) and one just reads it (node 32). I'm using the function to calculate and send the 0x02 + node ids. I make it very...

    USB2LT TashTalk Usb to LocalTalk

I did a bit more investigation, and it seems the PIC always ties CTS low? I never see the pin moving. When I send some data, the PIC always sends the RTS packets as above but seems to ignore all incoming data.

    USB2LT TashTalk Usb to LocalTalk

I've been playing with sending small packets and it seems Only control packets make it though? For example if I write 0x01 0x01 0x81 I get it on the other side of the cable: (This is the raw data coming out of the other TashTalk, hence the 00 FD at the end) But it I write a small DDP packet I...

    USB2LT TashTalk Usb to LocalTalk

Ok so we should be able to rule out the software :) I have a small program that sends a frame full of "r"s. When I use the working adapter, I can see all the "r"s in the terminal (plus the rest of the binary data). When I do the reverse I just see random stuff. Ok I will bring out the scope...

    USB2LT TashTalk Usb to LocalTalk

Some bodges later, the inevitable reversed power ic that went off in smoke... I can receive data but not transmit :( @tashtari I'm using version 2.0, is there anything special I need to do in software for this version? Or is it just a drop in for 1.0? This is the relevant part of the schematic...

Announcing and interest check: Integrated AirTalk for PowerBook 100 series

Haha I like red! In reality in my company we make all products on red pcbs (it is like our "color scheme"), so I just did them that way out of habit :)

Announcing and interest check: Integrated AirTalk for PowerBook 100 series

When I tested the first version, it worked quite well, but it was external to the machine. I'm very curious to see how it works when it is inside and the case closed.

Anyone have a PB Serial Adapter? Cloneable?

Absolutely yes, there was a project here but I cannot find it. I'm working on something similar but it integrates an AirTalk to have wireless localtalk: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/announcing-and-interest-check-integrated-airtalk-for-powerbook-100-series.45088 I also used it as a...

Anyone have a PB Serial Adapter? Cloneable?

This thing is interesting, it ha three rd422 transceivers? Does it allow localtalk on the modem port? But I'm not sure how it works, because unless it patches AOn() the system software will power off the modem when switching localtalk ports. And I'm not too convinced about the better performance...
