    Macintosh SE/30 M5119 - Restoration

To me Y3 is most likely fine.

    Transplanting 9-inch CRTs - A Journey

There's absolutely no problem; you're right to warn me that it might not work. Besides, it's not much fun when it works straight away. The most dangerous part of the yoke is the copper coil. I've accidentally touched it before, but I wasn't shocked. Still, it's important to wear gloves and avoid...

    Transplanting 9-inch CRTs - A Journey

It's funny enough, but I happen to have a similar CNC machine CRT I bought a while ago. Your spacers might work with it.

    Transplanting 9-inch CRTs - A Journey

Okay, so I'll need to design my own spacers. No big deal.

    Transplanting 9-inch CRTs - A Journey

My goal is to transplant an Apple IIc monitor's CRT into a Macintosh Classic, just like Adrian Black did in his video, with these particular spacers. So why wouldn't it work?

Hi, I'm also looking for the .stl file for the spacers.

SE/30 video issue, half simasimac pattern

Thanks. It’s most likely a broken trace between UE8 and UC6/7.

SE/30 video issue, half simasimac pattern

The board is clean and has been recapped. I already replaced all the SMD video chips (F253, LS166, and LS393), but no luck. The picture is from an SE/30 listed on eBay, which has the exact same issue. Any idea? To me, the video circuitry doesn’t seem to be fully initialized. I haven’t probed...

    Macintosh Classic Blank Screen

You probably didn’t let it dry properly, and it caused a short that fried something. I clean every board I have with soapy water in my ultrasonic cleaner, and I’ve never broken anything that way.

Recapped SE/30 freezes as soon as sound is played

Problem solved, adress line 4 wasn't connected.

Recapped SE/30 freezes as soon as sound is played

Hi, same issue here. Glitched chime and system freezes when playing sound in control panel. Sadly, the R/W line is fine. I noted that the glitch changes slightly when playing it several times. I replaced UE10, UB10 and UB11. I also checked all these traces : https://recapamac.com.au/macintosh-se-30/

    Macintosh Classic Blank Screen

It's very rare to find a Classic or Classic II working without a recap (analog board + motherboard). I recommend cleaning the analog board with soapy water — isopropyl alcohol isn't sufficient. Do the same for the motherboard. You might also need to repair broken traces on the motherboard.

PowerBook 165 – Backlight turns off after a few seconds (CPU board issue)

Hi everyone, I’m experiencing a strange issue with my PowerBook 165. The machine boots and works perfectly, the screen comes on with proper contrast and image… but the backlight shuts off after about 5 seconds. The image remains visible under strong light, so the LCD itself is fine — it’s...

PowerBook 2400c — Need to plug/unplug AC many times before chime

I have an other 2400c which is working just fine without one. End of discussion, the 2400c does NOT need a PRAM battery to boot properly.

PowerBook 2400c — Need to plug/unplug AC many times before chime

I’ve already tried everthing, I even gave the board an ultrasonic cleaning. Since the machine stays powered on when it freezes, that suggests there’s no major power supply issue. It’s more likely to be a bad oscillator or a failing PMU-related IC.

PowerBook 2400c — Need to plug/unplug AC many times before chime

Hi everyone, I’m currently working on three different PowerBook 2400c units, and they’re all exhibiting the same strange behavior: I have to plug and unplug the AC adapter 5 to 10 times before the machine finally gives the startup chime and powers on. Once they chime, they boot and work fine...

    SE/30 mouse issue.

Hi, same issue here with a stock recapped SE/30. Click and keyboard are working fine. But the mouse isn't moving. Already checked broken traces underneath the ADB chip and VIA2, I even looked at the microscope, but no broken traces. What should I check next ? My analog board works fine.

Looking for Motorola MC68851 PMMU for Macintosh II

I already have that from my dead board. By the way I’m using it as decoration! The 68882 isn’t gone, I’m using it in my Mac II.
