@AC Rempt to put it mildly, anything thats a g3 or says 'performa' by default are routed to use ide for cdrom's (clones are another matter as by default some would route this to scsi and yet many routes this to ide instead) .. although in theory you could still use a scsi one if you reroute...

ecc ram was only supported with 970fx based xserves and 970mp based powermacs right? I can't seem to have found any reference to ecc ram for 970fx powermacs otherwise so am just curious about whats quite correct after all (I did noticed wikipedia said that there were two different northbridges...

I have to add that unless you specifically wanted the voodoo 1-or-2 physically due to your specific existing graphic setup it indeed does seem a lot cheaper to skip over the voodoo3/newer in favour of the newest setup-compatible single-slot geforce you can find as you not only get to wrap glide...

agreed with @NJRoadfan as pretty much everything that had onboard or pci firewire ports pretty much used this one only apple extension itself from 8.5 through 9.2 (with a small sidenote that dv-only firewire functions in earlier os too tho, they already covered the basic details here...

digidesign pretty much had processing cards for nubus, and also i'm pretty sure some form of nubus cards (but I don't recall now if that was digidesign or someone else instead) had spdif and/or aes3 in some way too
