Hi dear friends!
after many attempts, anger, desperation and replacement of electronic components, my Classic is back to life!!!
I replaced the 2 KOHM 1W “RF2” resistor that feeds the TEA2037 (miraculous suggestion from friend @TheMightyMadman) and then I gave the whole analog board a new good...
Thanks a lot @TheMightyMadman !! I’ll change the resistor and let you know!!
@dochilli Thanks for your important suggestion!
Tha strange thing is that my Classic was starting with chime with the “economical” caps and the voltages adjusted by me was 5.00 V and 12.19 V.
Now with the high quality...
Thanks @TheMightyMadman !!! your suggestion of this resistor (RF2) is really PRECIOUS! please, can you indicate also the tolerance of RF2?
From my little electronic experience I know that for some electronic circuits (precisely on some portions) it is a very important value.
Beyond the question...
Bad news:
I have also changed the mosfet IRF740, the schottky MBR1045 and the v. regulator LM317T on the AB. For the sake of scruple I preferred to replace all the power supply caps with excellent caps...
Nothing to do, it doesn't work !! same problem but the bright horizontal line has changed...
I remind you that until now I have replaced: TDA4605, the mosfet IRFBC40A and the optocoupler CNY17G-3 and the TEA2037A.
I have tried to adjusting only the horizional pots (first and last pots).
dear @bibilit, thanks again but I have changed the two diodes DP3/DP4 and the TEA2037A (my reseller had one) and nothing...
The Classic boot with the chime but the problem remains the same: screen displays single horizontal bright line.
Could it be some cap that I replaced that has failed (no...
Ok thanks, I'll try to change the two diodes.
Please, I'm not an expert of electronic component, can you indicate me the value of the two diodes? so I can ask precisely to my electronic reseller.
Considering that I am dismantling the AB of my Classic for the umpteenth time, would you advise me...
Thanks a lot bibilit!!
Ok I'll set the trimmer to proper voltages.
No they are the originals. You say that by changing these two "faulty" diodes I could solve the problem of the very bright horizontal line?
I remind you that now I have no image on the screen.
Hi dear friends!
I have fully recapped my Classic, only the huge cap near the transformer is the original one (mine AB is 220 volts type).
I have also changed the TDA4605, the mosfet IRFBC40A and the optocoupler CNY17G-3.
After the fully recap my Classic don't start: any chime but only a...
Hi dear friends!
Please can you help me with the memory expansion for my Quadra 650?
On ebay and other web marketplace I have found various offers for simms 72 pin and for “EDO” simms… This last type is compatible with my Quadra?
60ns, 70ns, 80ns??
I am quite confused… I ask to the experts for...
@Trash80toHP_Mini THANKS for your tip!
@ried yes, I think that Trash80toHP_Mini meant just that.
The drive, the main part, should be identical to that of the "VST". Only the small internal card interface that connects the drive to the PowerBook G3 "expansion bay" connector changes.
Here in...
Thanks again, friends! With your technical explanation, you were very clear.
Now I have clear ideas if I should buy one of these modern SCSI "adapters". ;)
Dear friends,
i can't figure out what could have happened to my VST zip drive. It had been a few months that I hadn't plugged the VST zip drive into my PB G3 and made it work. Tried it a few days ago and nothing to do, completely dead. The led of the drive does not turn on and the Mac does not...
Finally I have repaired my beloved Mac Classic II !!!
I found some "suspicious" solder under the rom and ram sockets. I re-soldered them and I re-soldered a smd 47uF electrolytic capacitor. After, a nice total "bath" in isopropylic alcohol.
Now it WORKS PERFECTLY at EVERY START !!!
THANK YOU ALL...
Hi guys! here I am again!
I finally found the time to recap the analog board of my beloved Mac Classic II. The work was performed in a workmanlike manner and the voltages were calibrated with the dedicated trimmer: 12.25 volts and 5.15 volts. Unfortunately, the Mac at the first start after...
Thank you a lot friends and sorry for the delay of my response.
Yes, Trash80toHP_Mini! the card is like mine!
But I'm not a computer expert at your level. I haven't knowledge / equipment suitable for doing this type of update. This is why I was asking you experts if there was a software update...
Hi friends!
I want to upgrade my nubus Radius video card to a newer rom version (now 1.50). I need compatibility with Mac OS 9.1.
I remember in the nineties, Radius distributed these kinds of updates...
Anybody of you have an application utility that can help me for the upgrade?
Thank you all...
