Congratulations for the neat Plus! The rear case moulding near the top vents seems different than the normal beige case. It is more rounded.

Repairability of a specific Mac Portable

Well, the portable arrived and I have some good news and some bad news. The portable initially did not power on, just like the seller said, even with a refurbished battery that I prepared. It showed different sad mac codes. The motherboard was clean, no signs of corrosion or evidence of any...

Repairability of a specific Mac Portable

In the meantime, while waiting for the machine to arrive, does anyone have experience and can suggest a source for capacitors? Ideally a pre-made kit so I do not mess up? Is the m5120 and m5126 identical capacitor-wise? Ideally in the EU? So far I found kit for m5126 (https://recapamac.com.au/)...

Repairability of a specific Mac Portable

After some digging it seems to be the international (internal) version of the 2400 modem (more info and pics here https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/macintosh-portable-expressmodem.38733/ post #6). The international version uses an external dongle, whereas the US version attaches to the...

Unfortunately yes. I researched sold listings and found not working models going for 300+ euros. This one was the backlit model in good shape, an internal modem and the 8mb expansion.

Repairability of a specific Mac Portable

Thanks once again. I just ordered it. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284933006028 It is interesting that it has the 8mb upgrade. I thought that the m5126 models did not support the full 8mb upgrade - at least according to...

Repairability of a specific Mac Portable

Thanks, it is the backlit model. What is the "Power Manager board"? The ad also contains the original power adapter so I believe he is powering it up properly. The battery is not rebuilt. No mention about re-capping but says board is in good shape.

Repairability of a specific Mac Portable

Hi all, I am considering in purchasing a non-functioning mac portable that throws the following error codes: 00000014/0000CD36 and 00000083/10001CF6. The first one is: Power Manager board power on. During send, no start of a handshake. I was not able to find information for the second one...

    MagicSD for SCSI2SD owners

I know what is happening. When you opened your sd card with HxD you probably opened your sd partition, not sd drive. So the offset you found (32792) was not from the beginning of the drive, rather from beginning of the specific partition (around 2000bytes further in). Of course scsi2sd is not...

    Mac SE/30

Regarding some next steps, can someone recommend an EU source for analog board and sony psu cap kit? JDW has compiled a mouser cart however it costs 68euros including shipping for psu caps alone and many of them are on backorder. Ebay prices are also high Also, the rear metal bracket on the...
