16k language card in slot 0
unknown 80 column card missing cables in slot 3
under keyboard card is probably part of a shift key mod and may have auto repeat
The card isn't anything, it runs at multiples of the logic boards bus speed.
It should have a 7.5 multiplier for a 133MHz bus
When you put it into a 167 bus it's running too fast
If you change the cards multiplier to 6 then it'll run at 1GHz on a 167 bus
That way you keep the higher bus speed...
Macs never used 5.25” floppy drives. There was an Apple PC 5.25” drive but I believe it needed a NuBus card. There is a USB adapter for 5.25” drives but it’s read only and you’d need to run OSX or linux. If you can even find one the Dynafile SCSI 5.25” drive might work or not. I have one but I...
I’ve had a MacOS issue for a while. I use a number of Lacie and Promise drives with software RAID. With any OS later than 10.10, when I restart the Mac all the windows on those drives are closed. Single drives are fine. I’ve been wanting to upgrade the OS because there’s new video codecs coming...
I use superdrives quite a bit and have only had 3 issues. Dirty heads, dried lubricant and dead eject motor. In one case the dried lubricant let the disk go in but the heads weren't making god contact with the disk.
I’ve original superdrives and upgraded 800k drives. The only differences are LED colour and an extra metal shield. I happily use them interchangeably.
Other than insufficient cleaning then my next thought is dried up lubricant not letting the disk go 100% of the way in.
One difference is that the Quicksilver has a faster bus speed so unless you solder/unsolder some resistors on ta Quicksilver processor card it’ll run at a lower speed than normal. A 867mhz processor in a AGP will run at 650mhz.
Also one of the mounting screws on the Quicksilver supplies 12v. On...
I’ve been printing plastic labels with a Brother label printer and paper labels with a Dymo LabelWriter 450. All was good but then I was looking at the Dymo LabelWriter 450 Duo which had 2 parts to it, one for paper and the other for plastic. I got interested because it’d do graphics on the...
