    Aircooled g5 quad done

The Quad G5 came out in 2005 and heat pipes for CPU started coming out in 2003 or so. There was probably a period where water cooling was the only option.

    Aircooled g5 quad done

Are there any gaps between the processors when the heatsinks are installed so that air goes around them instead of through them?

What Drawing Tablet + Scanner for a Quadra 950?

I had a UMAX 1200s I think was the model number connected to my Q950 at one time. Wacom tablet is connected to the KVM that goes to my Radius 81/110, SE/30, Beige G3, and Q950.

What is the largest drive and partition size Mac OS 7.5.5, 8.0 and 8.1will support?

Early versions of the Classic Mac OS (prior to 7.5.2) have a 2 GB limit per partition, so higher capacity drives need only be partitioned into multiple 2 GB (or smaller) segments. For Macs running System 7.5.2 through 8.0, the limit is 4 GB (specifically 4,063 MB) per partition, and PCI-based...

    ADB splitter?

ADB bus has +5VDC, Ground, ADB Signal, and power-on (for macs that can be turned on from the keyboard). ADB machines tend to have a fuse on the ADB input, so you don't blow up your motherboard, and the spec sheet says 500mA is the max current draw. Connecting too much crap might overload the...

    Quadra 950 key

A few of my 950's are buried but the ones I have setup have keys 095,044. One of those keys (set of 2) were from my AWS95 but work in another machine. One machine didn't have a key.

NUBUSPAS16-DB :: A daughterboard hack to restore some functionality of a standalone MediaVision PAS16

The other day ebay had what looked like a complete setup minus the card (box, disks, breakout). Sold for $42 free shipping.

NUBUSPAS16-DB :: A daughterboard hack to restore some functionality of a standalone MediaVision PAS16

The cards should be much easier to find than the breakout box. I find it funny how people want hundreds for cards that are 100% useless without the breakout boxes.

    Performance: AsanteFAST versus Farallon EtherFast?

If you can do 11MBs on a scuzzy Nubus card, you should be able to get more then 10Mb speed with a network Nubus card. Apples networking sucks in 68K and early PPC machines. I can get much faster transfers on a 486 with VLB or EISA 10Mb ethernet.

Graphics Card with the Best Picture Quality?

Early LCD monitors suck for gaming because of ghosting, but they also didn't kill your eyes at 60 hz. Matrox cards were among the early high resolution productivity cards, so they used great RAMDACS (which were separate chips back in the old days). I have a nice 4MB VLB Matrox card and high...

    G5 quad showing leaking caps

Not looking forward to recapping my newer PPC machines, too much work. I had to redo a bunch of G5 iMacs years ago when my eyesight was better, and it was a pain (hate new solder).

    Powermac 5300/100LC?

The 6100 is pretty thick, but to take the top cover off you have to bend those plastic tabs and those will break sooner or later. With prices for working machine rising, we have seen some models get new motherboards manufactured, sooner or later we will see new cases as well (assuming 3D...

    Nubus SCSI for system 6

Nubus is so slow that a Nubus SATA card with mounting for a laptop HD would be fine. Personally, I like the old SCSI cards and have quite a few from back in the days they were cheap.

    Nubus SCSI for system 6

The older Silicon Express II cards are 2x as fast as built in SCSI and probably work under OS 6 (haven't tried). Thing is they are hard to find. There are other 50 pin Nubus SCSI cards out there as well.

64-Pin 4MB SIMMs for Apple Display Card 8*24 GC

Just the 2000 Nubus and EISA from what I recall. There are PCI versions but the RAM is built into the board.

64-Pin 4MB SIMMs for Apple Display Card 8*24 GC

Targa 2000 has those modules, and it comes in Nubus, PCI, and EISA formats. The ones I snagged were from AVID Nubus cards. The EISA Targa 2000 board you have is nice, took me a while to find a Nubus model with those special I/O cables and I don't think I have the EISA one.

Digital VooDoo 2000 D1 Desktop 64AV PCIX video card

In this hobby people will eventually find software for oddball cards which don't take up much space anyway so why toss them. I think mine came in a G4 tower with no HD. Anyway, I have a soft spot for analog video capture cards so I collect them and put them into systems when I can. The very...
