Cloning the Pippin Flash ROM board

Heh, no worries- yes, I used the 1.2 PCB mostly, then compared it with the GM PCB to sort out the pinout and the reserved pins. While the GM seems the logical starting point for a reprogrammable/repro PCB, the retail design makes more sense to work from. I'm also not 100% sold on /ROM, but...

Cloning the Pippin Flash ROM board

I don't believe there's any need to clone the GM ROM PCB, as all the functionality, save /WE (write enable) is implemented in the retail ROM PCB, and /WE can be enabled by soldering 4 wires, one to each FLASH chip on the PCB. I finished the tracing of the retail and the GM ROM and today. A few...

    RaSCSI Development Thread

I personally wouldn't even have bothered supporting the zero, considering how slow it should be, given the 1MiB/sec was measured off a Pi3, and GPIO speeds are bound to the cpu speed, but who knows.... I'm working on a different style project using RaSCSI so don't worry, I won't be overlapping...

A little confused about the placement of the second set of mounting holes as they don't seem to line up with the PI mounting holes, or am I mistaken?

    RaSCSI Development Thread

Glad to see you using SMT instead of DIP Two suggestions: - Add a second set of board mounting holes that aligns to the Pi, to allow for spacers to keep the SCSI pins from getting anywhere near the conductive surfaces of the HDMI port and similar. - Use a right-angle SCSI connector such that...

Looking for Mac Hack CDs!!! :-D

I recall this as well- there was MacJive? I think it was called that came out one year that realtime translated any text rendered using toolbox calls in Jive. Might be interesting to track these hacks down...

Can you get a shot of the inside of the back case, the underside of the logic board area, and a view of the edge connector inside the system? As far as the inside back case and underside of the logic board area go, I'm looking for the date code matrix. I'm also interested to see what version...

Cloning the Pippin Flash ROM board

This is relevant to my interests... I've got a GM system, a preproduction Dev system, and two retail systems I've done some hardware hacks to to restore ADB, soft power on, and cd-rom emulation on one of my retails, but I've been looking closely at options for populating the onboard rom pads...

    Raspberry Pi as SCSI device

It CAN implement an ethernet connection over scsi, but not without a client-side driver. The driver provided is for X68000, not Macintosh. That said, we've had a few discussions about this in the last day over in IRC... There's some potential in this, but I don't believe it's in the direction...

    Interware Booster 040 Upgrade?

It'll likely clock to 40 with minimal issues, especially as there was a 40mhz version. An 060 won't work in any Mac regardless, without modifying Apple's ROM (no one has made any progress to this end even after 20+ years)

No chime in Color Classic, but it seems to work OK...

Another note (I've been doing a lot of board and chassis tests recently) - if you store your boards out of machines, they can build up some oxidation on the "edge connector". One fine example was the system that had no LED, and front panel board didn't function- cleaning that section of the...

Does anyone run a Takky Color Classic - 3.3V regulator essential?

In response to the original topic, as stated, the 3.3v is for the PCI bus. That said, the earlier 6360 and 6400 era boards should need it if you need to drive a pci device, while the 6500 boards may not. The boards SHOULD work fine regardless without 3.3v, you just won't be able to run any PCI...
