Yeah, I can't shake the feeling that it's something iffy on the motherboard. If there's some common issues I haven't already covered, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I'll be recapping that board in about a week, just to be sure
I have not, where is the best point to check the voltage to the board?
I checked that when checking continuity on the ADB chip. It checks out.
No schematic, but I've seen lots of resources online regarding recapping the board. I should do that, and with how often I've heard people saying I...
The whole point of my test without the logic board installed was to check that the analog board was at least partially functional. It seems to me that, while it hasn't been recapped, I should be able to at least get it running with whats there. If there are screen issues, I'll get to those fixes...
Hi,
Looking to get some additional input on repairing a color (colour...) classic Macintosh.
Here's the tests and procedures, in order, that I have done so far:
Pulled motherboard to check power supply functionality- OK
Washed motherboard and reinserted for a basic check- FAIL
Removed rear...
Looking to get some simple instructions on setting up a serial terminal connection between my PC and my SE/30. I can't seem to get it to work at the moment, so I'm sure there's either something I'm overlooking, or I've got some faulty cables.
I've got a mini DIN 8 to DB9 connector, hooked that...
Excellent. I've got two weeks in Tokyo, I'll be prowling the alleyways with my extremely limited Japanese vocabulary.
How about Hard Off? I've heard their larger branches carry buckets of loose components.
I'll have to just keep looking for an ethernet card, but again I'd rather just have a...
Thanks just.in.time. Yes, that is how it is hooked up. Just a generic USB modem from fleabay hooked up to the rPi. I've made up a telephone line voltage inducer just to be sure. I have noticed that the DreamPi software isn't initializing properly but I'm tight on time and will have to debug that...
So, it was hitting the bottom of the drive? If so that's going to be a problem. I didn't account for height when I purchased the sockets, so they're not the slimmest ones out there. It'll take me some time because of the shipping but I'll have it done and report back.
Has anyone replaced all of the ram chips onboard an older style //c mainboard?
I'm going to have to replace at least one chip, and I figured I'd do 'em all at once and solder on sockets to facilitate swapping in the future.
First, is it wise to replace them all, even if most are functional? ...
So, update: it doesn't work, for now.
I snagged a V.92 USR modem, got all the cables and little bits, soldered, hooked everything up, and... nothing.
Does anyone have experience with using the dial up modem on a Macintosh? I used one back in the day, but this was on a windows PC, and it was...
Thanks for the responses! Actually, I noticed that dreampi project, and it seems that will do nicely. I was really hoping to have a setup involving a real modem too, so I can have the pleasure of actually dialing out a connection.
Too bad I found out my USR modem is broken. Ack. Not easy to...
I am at my wits end here, trying to get an internet connection setup and running on my SE/30.
I've browsed all over the web for a long while now trying every which way to get an internet connection running, but each page seems to omit information that I guess they figured was common knowledge...
That's too bad, because I currently don't have the space or the tools to make the necessary fixes.
Truth is I was hoping to sell this (it doesn't serve as much other than a conversation piece right now).
How much do you think it would be worth as-is? And if I have the service done? I know a...
I'm really hoping this isn't a recap issue (although it probably is)
I had my Macintosh portable working about 4 weeks ago. I checked it once again today, and found that she just won't turn on.
Error code is as follows-
03001300
00001FFA
Which, it seems, corresponds to an "interrupt level 4"...
