Quesse Total Systems PDS accelerator for SE

And I often wish I had taken the time to develop some coding chops. Anyway, even more rare than people with technical skill are those such as yourself who can see the possibilities. Sounds like it could be useful for a PCB plotter/router! Sounds good. I have recently bought my first...

LaserJet 4+ - on the bench

PressNPeel has no adhesive, but it is thin, crinkly plastic sheet, like mylar. I needs to be taped to a piece of paper for proper rigidity. Also I have heard of people using transparencies and glossy paper with good results. When my PNP went through the fuser without paper, it melted to itself...

Quesse Total Systems PDS accelerator for SE

Ahh, your hacks are as ambitious as always! I asked around about these displays, and people mostly suggested that all of the video cards had their own freaky timing and format. If it is really Hercules EGA would be neat, though I would probably prefer a single page without the interlace. If you...

Loband: web fat trimmer for limited clients.

This is extremely cool. It seemed obvious to me that some such thing would exist. Looks like the offer source too? Maybe retro-computing nuts can use it to make custom filtered proxies for their home networks.

Quesse Total Systems PDS accelerator for SE

Yes, the PCB looks like it was designed to be really multi-purpose. The DIP headers underneath suggest that one could also socket it into a Plus. My init says: GemStart 3.0 for the 20MHz Gemini Use FPU for SANE (off) Instruction Cache (on) Data Cache (on) Startup Animation (on) Memory: Has...

LaserJet 4+ - on the bench

Maybe a year ago I was trying to make my own PCBs by printing designs onto "Press-n-Peel Blue" to transfer onto blank copper-clad circuit boards. Thinking ahead around two years ago I bought a low-use LaserJet 4+ for this purpose and outfit it with a PostScript card. Many of my tests went fine...

Quesse Total Systems PDS accelerator for SE

Hey, the thread lives! Yes, it is a nice card. Within the past year I saw one go on ebay NIB, with all the extras and then some, but I was not able to get it. From what I have read suggests these "Total Systems" and Gemini accelerators are the same. I have got my printer apart and need to get...

Looking for an OLD version of motu Performer

Purchased? Yes - but not new of course. MOTU aren't going to want to support their stuff on an ancient system as this means they'd need to keep old Macs around for troubleshooting. Finding older music software just takes a bit of patience. It seems like 45% goes to landfill, 45% stays in the...

    A wild 7100/80 appeared!

The DNA software is probably more rare and valuable than the 7100 is! IMO it is definitely worth archiving the software and extensions for this kind of stuff. Congrats on your find!

    Korg 168RC, Studer Dyaxis II

It does come with some example instruments and effects which can be modified. One can open a SynthKit project and mess around with it, but IIRC once a project is compiled it won't open in SynthKit anymore. Doing a raw decompile with some program would probably be a bit interesting but less...

    Korg 168RC, Studer Dyaxis II

I agree about the Korg awesome! What started me was scoring a cheap OASYS PCI card a few years back. Despite limited polyphony it is a very powerful synth/effects/recording setup. Also it is the only product for which Korg ever licensed their SynthKit program for end users - which is a...

    Korg 168RC, Studer Dyaxis II

I have been trying to not go too crazy with the audio equipment, but these were too cheap and useful for me too pass up. The Korg is part of their mid-late 90s "Soundlink DRS" series of products for handling digital audio as 8-channel ADAT streams. It is a digital mixer with 8 analog ins/outs...

AUS - Who wants some booty? You've gotta work for it though

Amazing adventure! I am so happy for all involved. If I told my wife I was going to anything like this she'd probably try knocking me out with a rolling pin!

    Unfreaking-believable

Easy - because one might not be running current apps/OS/peripherals, etc. So it doesn't matter. There are many useful apps which run only on PPC, and others which run only on 68k. If you need a last-generation OS 9 machine, G4 is perfect.

    Totaled G5 - Idea Thread

I second Bunsen's suggestion: I would install it in a slim rack chassis or a small desktop case.

    Networkable Games for System 6

A few months back I was able to find Bolo, Net Trek, and the Spectre games. Of these I have played a fair amount of Spectre and a little Bolo. Yet to try Trek. Also my SE is the only 6 machine I have running right now. My guess is that these games would do better over LocalTalk than ethernet...

    Huge Haul of 68Ks

I knew you weren't off the bus for long! Interesting - if filthy - haul, there. And congratulations especially on the score of IIci and the SEs.

    Illustrator CS

CS should be the same as the beta for Illustrator 11 I tried years ago. It worked fine of my B&W G3 under Jaguar, so your G4 should be no problem.

Burning OS 9 Bootable disc in Snow Leoard

If you are copying a bootable image, it should work fine. But if you are trying to make a custom boot image it may be a bit difficult. Obviously 9 and 10.6 boot in very different ways... OS 9 needs a valid System Folder, and it needs to be blessed or touched or whatever. An X bootable CD will...

    OS Ideas

I agree with this! I love many of my Mac programs, but I do not understand the appeal of "The Desktop" in Mac and Windoze... it is like training wheels on a bicycle: once one knows their way around mousing through lots of folders definitely seems like the slow and difficult way to go about...
