Mac SE 30 floppy drive head issue

I think the small spring is not the issue, but rather the metal plate also acting as a spring, and the chances to getting it lined up is 50%

Mac SE 30 floppy drive head issue

The idea is to see if removing the upper carrier, the upper head is touching the lower one. If so, something is preventing both to do so.

800k Floppy Drive Reads 400k But Not 800k

yes i agree, the 400k drive has only once head (the lower one) when the 800k drive has two. So when reading a 800k disk you need both. Yes try cleaning the upper head first, if you don’t get any improvement, move the spring of the upper head a notch down.

    No sound Classic II boards

Hi, not easy to help, but sound is generated by U4 (DFAC) if you have already swapped chips, not your issue here. Moreover, this chip is almost never bad. Probably a bad or broken trace in the capacitor area. Keep in mind that the bad trace can also be located in the other side of the board.

I have found a cheap SE/30, cleaned the board, new caps around. The board got a chime but I have no vertical sync. I have just a bright line in the middle of the screen. The analog board is not the issue, tested ok. Logic board is the problem. So far, I have tested the continuity from the...

Advice regarding sparks on 512k analog board

Hi, you have to adjust the image with the two tabs present in the yoke side. You will see two cadmium plated tabs next to the coil, most of the time some paint is applied to avoid those rings from turning. Pushing (will make the ring spin) one or another will move the image up or down and left...

Apple II (Rev. 7) only showing garbage at power-on, any tips?

Can be a lot of things, but you can start with basics. Only the bottom row of ram chips is required (the one next the keyboard) for a start. So remove all chips and only keep the better looking ones. Can be a Rom issue also.
