I agree, probably too many bad chips to generate a correct fault code. You can try the piggybackîng method to narrow down the issue.

I agree with Tobias, in my opinion, a lot of work should have been done on this board already, so reverting back to 512k will be a pain by itself. Maybe finding a 128k board is the best option. Have you got the 400k drive or the new 800k ?

Yes, this area, the sound chip is the one near both switches (DFAC) but have a look on the other side of the board, probably a broken trace there.
