Introducing scuzEMU, a SCSI Emulator Utility

Good luck with that and I am really happy to see this potential, additional support! That product saved so many of my original Mac files, and their resource forks as self-expanding archives so they weren't completely lost. I had archived a bunch of things with CompactPro back in the day...

    PowerBook 165c

After you have the case open... Seriously, not too bad if you've messed about, changing RAM in the PB line. You will want a copy of the 165c -180c Service Source as a guide, but basically: Remove the main battery, I/O door, take out 5 screws (sometimes 4 if the one in the back was lost)...

    PowerBook 165c

As 3lectr1cPPC stated, there is a Lithium coin cell that's soldered to the interconnect board and I have seen that battery corrode, leak and cause minor damage to the interconnect board in several models. Not trying to alarm you, or start anything, just making sure that you know the potential...

SE Analog Board flyback and other issues.

That little plus sign is there across two board revisions that I have laying about and I've never noticed that, until you pointed it out! Across two revisions its not likely an error - and the polar cap does appear to be a choice... I'm planning to use parts from the burned board along with...

SE FDHD Flyback lived its last day. Suggestions that don't cost more than the machine is worth?

danny.g - it looks like you have it all worked out, but I had a similar situation a few months back and experienced the same initial sticker shock that you did. Shortly after that, I found an excellent AB with flyback that was less than $40 shipped.

Building an internal grayscale card for the SE/30

It looks like joshc is parting with his? ...from an earlier post, featured in the eBay listing.

Missing Pressure Pad (and Shield) from 400K Floppy Drive

...or two 1/2 years later, I might be re-capping the sweep/PS board in the 512 and something inside the case finally becomes dislodged and basically falls out. Yep, not only did I buy one of these a few years ago, but now, I have my original back! I guess I just needed patience measured by...

Any Idea how to take these internal Apple SCSI CD drives apart?

Thanks, and great direction with the little black clips! After reading your post, I tried focusing on them again, using a lock pick tool stuck between the plastic piece and the metal they seem to wedge against, while standing the CD upright (connector side down) and this allowed the inside...

Any Idea how to take these internal Apple SCSI CD drives apart?

I have several of these CD-ROMs that have come from Macs that have been recycled in years past. They are various models, but fairly identical over a date range of a few years and they all have the same case design. Since I have been going through floppy drives and refurbishing them and these...

SE Analog Board flyback and other issues.

When I attempted to hook this up to another SE a few weeks back, perhaps I didn't terminate it properly, because it did not show up on the SCSI chain at all. However, when I tested it last night on my Q650, it started right up. As for the Master/Slave/Cable select, I'm guessing they just...

    Spot The Bust Flyback Competition

If there is a chance you will be taking it apart again very soon - like you are still working on it and troubleshooting issues, there is no need to put the dielectric grease on yet. When you are ready to assemble it for the (hopefully) final time... Coat here on the inside... plug the cap...

My retro sleeper finally in its forever home.... god this took so long

I poked around a bit to find out what you were up to in there - very, very nice!

SE Analog Board flyback and other issues.

Okay, the miniscribe works too. I gave it another chance, and it fired right up (relatively speaking). Poked around on it for a bit, System 6.0.8, some early networking, MS Word and a couple other things. Mainly, just seeing if it would freeze up or anything like that, but it seemed solid...

SE Analog Board flyback and other issues.

Turns out the ones that I have (found them) required a bit of interesting positioning as well - I've installed them in a 45 degree sort of thing on one of the replacement boards that I had. I have been collecting a few non-working boards for the day when I would have a really bad one and need...

CRT replacement for Apple Monitor II

This link from another forum seems to reference an attempt to retrofit other similar size/type monitors - obviously with a different purpose, but it contains information that may be important as you look for a replacement, specifically how to intelligently source/use a different CRT. Here is...

Tips for Upgrading a Mac mini G4 for Mac OS 9 Use

I already have one that I bought a while back that had been upgraded with an SSD and memory before I bought it, so all the really hard work was done. I love the list of tips that you've posted, along with the links, since running Mac OS 9 on this hardware is one of the fastest and space...

SE/30 - Design for Drop in Replacement Power Supply

Even though I've started re-capping some of my worst-case examples, I would be just as happy to fill the cases with new, replacement PSUs that came from a project like this thread is working to create, because I have several more SE and SE/30s that will eventually need a solution as well. If...

SE/30 - Design for Drop in Replacement Power Supply

I'm re-capping my second one of these - the first one was pulled from an SE and exudate from the caps had actually been leaking (slightly) out one end of the power supply! It now works great after the re-cap.

    Quadra 700 PSU Removal problem

What imacs said. I would also mention that since there is no picture of the latch in that service source, but note that the Q650/C650 PSU is similar and that the latching mechanism is shown in their service source, so you can get an idea of the position of it from that picture.
