@asicsolutions if you give me a BoM or everything needed, and assuming there are no SMD, I can get one of these and solder it together and send it your way.
@asicsolutions welcome abroad the 68kmla team. @Kai Robinson has done some pretty incredible things with the SE design. He would probably know better than me if the GLU implementation is the same or similar. regarding the Micron Xceed @joethezombie, @Bolle, @Trash80toHP_Mini, @techknight are...
If they are like the Mac Portable, I cannot recall right now, and have extra unused solder areas for more chips, then you should be able to. SMD soldering/de-soldering isn't easy though and the gain of only 8mb doesn't seem worth it. Do you have a photo of the memory cards?
I’m very glad to see people with much more electrical knowledge than me work to solve problems and various unknowns. Unfortunately, I have little to add, but I did want to say that some useful information in being shared here, so thank you for that.
This truly is a blessing for those of us with several of these older Macs. I’ve lost many sets during the refurbishment process. It’s a good idea to have spares.
I can't believe I never realized this project existed and I have an unused MiSTr FPGA computer that I was gifted. I'll have have to look into this more. Very cool project. Of course, @Kai Robinson SE reproduction is also very cool! I'm so very glad to see so many great people do so many...
That is a classic game that I really enjoyed playing when I was younger! Sadly, I'm not much help in finding obscure software but I wish you the best in your searches as I think its a noble effort!
I use Facebook marketplace but I am also in many Mac sell/trade pages which are fruitful. Worth a shot. If you were in the US I’d just help you get a working one ready to go.
Yeah, I love the iMac G3 Indigo as we had one years ago. They can survive shipping though I'll say at this point its 50/50. If they are able to understand english maybe share a video of how to pack a CRT which is effectively the same though slightly less brittle:
The iMac would be more reliable (if it survives shipping - that's a big if). Occasionally, they will require analog board work though. That said, iMacs have a much lower value.
As far as I can tell it looks like the logic board is in good shape with minimal leakage/corrosion. It’s also a socketed CPU which is nice. Every SE/30 needs recapped regardless. I’d say around €200 would be fair.
I too, really enjoyed this game! If anyone likes business/management games and/or dinosaurs this is sure to be a fun game. Beyond that I only know of Nanosaur which I think requires 8.6/9.
@adb9001 if you’d ever consider selling either for high eBay prices or even more (or trades as I have NOS stuff, prototypes, etc). Let me know as those two were used with a 9600 I had years ago and I’m feeling nostalgic.
Sad it didn’t have further price decreases. It’s cool, but not $1400 cool. For that kind of money I could have my one version produced with ABS milling at a factory in China.
I strongly discourage the use of fanless AIO 68k Macs. I even using a SystemSaver on my 128k. Speaking as someone who tried to manufacture new flyback transformers for the 128k-SE/30 the cost is insane. Therefore, we shouldn’t be expecting replacements. As a result, we need to keep our...
Are you sure the plastic tabs going from the outer button button didn't break? That would be more common. However, if you do have bad buttons on the logic board I don't know that you'll find one sold seperatly and I don't think its a common button. However, rest assured knowing there are tons...
Because it is expensed equipment it was simply used at one of their locations. Sadly, it wasn't used for testing/prototyping. But it is cool having that little extra bit of history.
