Looks great! That 7100 will be very happy now. I have three 6100's and the capacitors are leaking badly on all of them with lots of corrosion. I'm slowly getting through mine and the 7100 is next on the list. I've done one so far, an LCII and a Portable but there are many more to go..
Thanks for the tip @Phipli, would you twist the caps while holding the base in place, and then de-solder? I hadn't thought about doing it this way but it seems a lot safer. Great to see you've got it working @3lectr1cPPC nice job!
Is that a 7100? I'm in the same boat and have been putting this one off for a while.. I used craft knife blades to redirect the heat away from the plastic components which worked well with my Macintosh Portable. This one might be a little more tricky though
I bought this with a broken tube so I removed it and put an LCD inside. It's got VGA, AV, and HDMI inputs and has a 640x480 native resolution so is perfect for the older macs when space is limited
I have stuck to using CF and have found they perform at almost the same speed as an internal HDD. When testing I found that a fast internal HDD performed better overall (except for seeking data in some cases) but I have stuck to the CF due to reliability and noise. I've used the same adapter as...
I've just released version 2.0 which includes many new features and bug fixes.
@Nixontheknight @CC_333 OpenAI's recent changes have resulted in slower API response times, and Heroku (where I host the proxy server) has a max timeout of 30s..
Unfortunately I can't change this, and I'm unsure...
Update: LegacyAI 68k v1.0 is now available here. It is only compatible with 68020 CPUs and above. Do not run it on older CPUs or your system will crash. There have also been some improvements including the following:
Improved language support
Expandable window
Better network status visibility...
I only have good things to say about RealBasic, building this was very straightforward. The only trouble was finding remnants of documentation etc. I even read a physical book!
@paws I'm gald it's been useful! I'm going to put together a guide for setting up a proxy server this week and will post it on Mac-Classic.com, so keep an eye out there.
@nickpunt I have a test 68k version built and running, I just need comlete the remaining features the other builds have. It...
I've just released v1.3 which has support for GPT-3.5. This is one of the best AI models, so responses should be a lot better now!
Next update I will focus on bug fixes and looking into GPT-4
One last update:
There was a bug which broke the update flow, so anyone using the version 1.0-1.1 (especially Carbon) apps won't download the correct updates. If you want to fix this you will need to download the new version (I know it's annoying ). See the update notes here.
Thanks for the heads up @robin-fo! I'll take a look at that soon. It could be a font rendering issue too (I think that part is rendered in a canvas), I only tested the app with the default system font.
Thanks @paws!
Yes that's correct, I tried to make that as clear as possible on the website...
Hmm that's interesting! Thanks for letting me know, I'll have to test that. Have you got anything set within the Preferences for "Custom Proxy Server"? You will get that error if it can't connect to a server.
Update:
There is now a carbon version available for Mac OS 9 - OSX 10.6.8. It has also...
Over the last few weeks I have been building LegacyAI, which is a ChatGPT client built specifically for Mac OS 9.
LegacyAI allows you to access OpenAI's ChatGPT from your Mac OS 9 Desktop. You can choose AI models, save conversations, and can set up your own customised proxy server (if...
I managed to get a sage G3 iMac (450Mhz) for $25 but it won't power on. I haven't tried much yet, and plan on leaving it plugged in for the next few days to see if that can bring some life into it.
I noticed that as soon as I plug in the power cable it starts making a ticking noise towards the...
