Just an update for anyone looking in the future, mine is leaking as of now, in early 2025. It's probably time to consider changing or removing the supercapacitor.
Yeah, I was going to use dry ice or duster, but I'm going to leave it alone. I figured I'd repaste it and be done with it, but dosdude1 said the chip doesnt run very hot, so it's not worth the risk or the trouble. I appreciate the response.
I did see that post you made. I'm probably just going to replace it. I ordered a couple of them. I don't know enough
I've heard of them leaking, the reply below yours and above mine says his was leaking. This is the main reason why I want to remove it. I did order a replacement so I'm just...
I'm recapping my iBook G3 clamshell, and I was planning on just removing the "supercapacitor" unless it's going to cause issues. My battery is dead, and I don't plan on rebuilding the battery, and don't care my PRAM settings don't save, so I was thinking I'd just remove it, so I don't have to...
I dont see anything about that black heatsink in the guide. Maybe I missed it, but I see where it talks about the CPU. The CPU has a metal clamp, and that is fairly simple to remove. I can't find any info anywhere about how to remove the heatsink on what is likely the equivalent to like a...
Does anyone have any idea how the chipset heatsink is connected on an iMac G4 logic board? It has little tabs touching the logic board, but I can't tell if they're soldered and what purpose the tabs serve. I want to re-paste the chipset heatsink, but obviously I don't want to destroy the board.
Exploring what I can do with my IIGS, don't have much experience. I have Sonics installed and I am looking to replace the startup beep, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to convert audio formats. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how I could convert a wav file to something I...
Yeah, I believe this is a firmware issue with the FloppyEMU. Your video is one of the videos I saw, I saw 2 other people having the same issue. I have attempted many different methods to try to eliminate any possible variables, and I'm positive it is the FloppyEMU is not compatible for whatever...
This is an old thread, but I can't get it to work with a powerbook duo 2300c. With this model specifically it throws "disk initialization failed, disk is locked" and just loops the error while the system locks up until you unplug the drive. I can replicate it with 2 different 2300c's and I have...
I forgot to mention that it works just fine with a Powerbook external floppy drive, and I get the same results with the Mini Dock and the Floppy Adapter.
Anyone have any ideas why I can't get my FloppyEMU to work with a Powerbook Duo 2300C? It's been recapped, and I get the same exact message on 2 different Powerbook Duo 2300c's. One has been recapped, one has NOT been recapped. I used the information from this thread...
Sure, but I have no idea where to find it, does this photo help at all? I can take it apart further, just need some help on where I would find what you're looking for if you have any idea
Looking for some help ID-ing a capacitor. It's obviously 25V but I can't find a spec sheet for this series so I'm not sure of the capacitance. It's from the logic board of a Powerbook Duo 2300c.
I'm primarily posting this to share an alternative back panel for the mystic color classic that can be 3D printed, but I'll share my story and photos that lead to the model, but I'll keep it brief and to the point.
Huge thanks to Kay Koba and JDW for being awesome people!
I bought a mystic...
