What are the common failure points on the AV14?

Yes. Flyback is in excellent shape. Upon inspection I think I made a mistake in my previous repair and didn't re-connect something in the right way. UGH. I am going to have to do some more experimenting. The plastics are an absolute nightmare. My best advice is to follow the Apple Service...

What are the common failure points on the AV14?

A few years ago I recapped a AV14 monitor and it was working flawlessly. I put it on a shelf for a while. I decided to break it out again today and use it and it no longer seems to work. When I first turned it on I got a loud, normal degauss. When the Mac booted I heard high voltage start...

What fails on the AppleCD 300s (caddy)?

I have 2 Apple CD300 drives that refuse to read discs. For diagnostic purposes I can swap in a known-good recapped controller board and the drive will take the disc, seem to spin up, then eject it. Since I can rule out the controller as the culprit, what else might be bad on these drives...

    What is this Daystar card?

Does it require a PowerCache Universal or will a IIci version work? I've seen references to IIci. Is it only those LC models or will any others with a '030 LC PDS work? Thanks!

    What is this Daystar card?

I think it's an LC PDS to IIci cache/accelerator adapter, based on casual searching. Can anyone confirm that? Any details?

Were the PM5260s known for FBT failures?

Were the PowerMac 5260s known for flyback transformer failures? I've seen comments about that but it looks like many of the discussions of the topic are lost to time. I'd appreciate any information you may have. (The 5260s are the Macs with the slightly smaller CRTs and distinct from the rest...

    Supported PowerMac 6100 L2 sizes?

MicroMac is long out of business. :( The site is still up but the business is gone. It's cool having the site still around but it's sad because it teases us with all the upgrades that are no longer for sale.

Lifon 157-0042B or Lifon 157-0042C anyone

This is the replacement flyback: https://www.ebay.com/itm/121655780759 A flyback transformer is custom for the circuit and purpose. It serves a precise function in the circuit and you can't replace it with a generic part like you can with a capacitor or general purpose transformer. I have...

There are NOS ones on eBay right now. You just got to pony up the money ($150).

Lifon 157-0042B or Lifon 157-0042C anyone

Yeah, although the results are mixed. I've bought analog boards for their flyback and found that they had already started arcing or were nearing the end of their life. :( It's the analog board lotto.

You are a few years late. They used to go for $20 or so. Today you are lucky if you can find one for under $150.

    Mac SE Analog Board Troubleshooting

UPDATE. I found a working SE analog board to use as a comparison. I tested continuity and resistance with a multimeter on all the components on the board and found some distinctly conflicting values near the flyback shield. CR7 - In circuit on a healthy board I get 4.26MΩ going from red to...

    Mac SE Analog Board Troubleshooting

Yes. I double checked every cap ... orientation is correct, specs are correct. There are no solder bridges. I also checked continuity for all of them along the traces and every one of them tests good. I am going through Larry Pina's Dead Mac Scrolls now to see if I can identify any commonly...

    Mac SE Analog Board Troubleshooting

Yes. The PSU seems to be working correctly (voltages look good). I also swapped another confirmed working SE PSU on the board and got the same result. So it looks like the fault is somewhere on the analog board itself.
