    Durosity’s conquests and collection

You learn something new every day! I’m convinced I once saw a PowerBook grey ADV Mouse 1 (the square one) but as best I can tell they never actually existed.

    Durosity’s conquests and collection

So last week I won an auction on eBay for 5 big boxes of random cables and such. I didn’t actually mean to win.. I put in a bid of £5.. and it went for £1.86. It wasn’t that far a drive away, so went down there one morning and picked them up in my little Zoe! While I was in Nottingham we went...

IIci internal 1.4k floppy drive does not spin up nor seek

I presume you don’t have another floppy drive you can swap it around with? Also is it the correct floppy drive for the IIci? As I recall the later manual inject models didn’t work properly with older Macs

Darn! I was hoping for a fully loaded unit!

Studying the Beige G3's Modem slot

That does make sense! I’d really love to be able to get a v2 AV personality card for my AIO one day.. particularly if it has the DVD decoders chip on it (did that exist?) and add the USB chip to it!

Do we know why they decided to leave all these lines out?

Radius Rocket 32-bit addressing issue on a Macintosh IIX

That’s what I mean, on the IIx (and SE/30) there was an issue with the way 32 bit addressing worked.. I wonder if that may be introducing some kind of incompatibility. You don’t happen to have access to a Mac that had the same ROM slot but had a 32 bit clean module do you?

Radius Rocket 32-bit addressing issue on a Macintosh IIX

Didn't the IIx have dirty 32 bit addressing?

PowerBook 500 series logic board revisions. How many differences ?

I have a prototype PowerBook 550c, and the logic board in it is a stock one from a 540c (I think from memory it’s a rev A.. I’m guessing when they made it they just took an existing 540c they had sitting around and replaced a few components), and the video works fine on that one.

    2300c finally

Yep, my school was filled with loads of Mac Plus, Mac Classics, a smattering of PowerBooks and BBC Micros. Later on they added some Performa 630s and some 5400s eventually too. And yeah, Mac OS 8 was a bit hacky for it.. I remember buying a two button mouse for my Beige G3 266 MT and the...

    2300c finally

Personally, I loved the trackpad from the moment I got to use a PowerBook 520c at school. It was SO much better than the trackballs in the PowerBook 145b units they’d had up until then.. possibly because they needed a cleaning.. but either way I was hooked. They got a bit better with later...

    2300c finally

The PowerBook 2300 stickers above the keyboard? If so yes, that PowerBook 2300 has been upgraded from an older one, probably a 280. The 2300 from the factory came with the trackpad rather than trackball, but the upgrade kit that Apple made available re-used the existing trackball mechanism...
