How long does OS9 take to boot for you?

My 600MHz iMac G3 boots in about 30 seconds TOPS to 9.1. Fairly minimal install too

4.5V Battery Replacement for Early Compact Macs?

Maybe I should replace it now? Wouldn't want it to leak like the original battery did.

4.5V Battery Replacement for Early Compact Macs?

Same here, must be related to their chemical composition. The one I used is a VARTA which I've never seen leak.

4.5V Battery Replacement for Early Compact Macs?

Update: still holding a charge since October 2022, and the mouse speed and memory cache setting is still holding. At least it works for my purposes!

Macintosh SE stuck in reboot loop

I had a problem with my SE that the drives were creating errors and the fans weren't consistent and I was able to figure out that it was a weak power supply. After recapping, it runs way better and the voltage is much more consistent. Maybe something to look into?

Looking for GBMac version 1.3.1 - offering a 500$ reward (via paypal) to anyone who can archive/upload it

Perhaps post about it on the lost media reddit and someone may find it. Also post on emulator subreddits, etc. I think it might be worth it, thousands of people pass through there everyday

    Classic Mac Restoration (First Post)

I can also make 800K disks (System 6 and slimmed down 7, and probably a full 7 install with multiple) which the Classic can boot from - Just let me know if you need any. It's a stupidly complicated process, as I need to download the files, load them onto a USB, put those files onto a Zip disk...

    Classic Mac Restoration (First Post)

That's a good question actually. Generally I don't believe they just fall off during shipping, as I've had two compacts sent (An SE and the Classic) and neither had that problem, but I guess it's possible. Not sure to be honest, perhaps some kind of putty/silicon?

    Classic Mac Restoration (First Post)

Be careful with the CRT neck though, I wrecked a Classic doing this (by opening it, the neck board just came off suddenly). They are very fragile!

    Classic Mac Restoration (First Post)

What a shame you can't find your iMac - the Bondi Blue would be an awesome restoration project (if it didn't work correctly). It's always painful looking back knowing what you could have saved or what was thrown out. I also own a 2007 iMac, but I forgot to add it to my signature. Yeah...
