For high density 1.44 MB drives TransMac (ancient 2003 version I belive) works magic, it also lets me load data from PC to my SE/30 hard disk and it deals with forks and type just fine.
One must remember it's mandatory to clean your case thoroughly before applying peroxide cream, otherwise you'll get uneven tone.
I kind of spoilt the case of Atari ST while retrobrighting it with a shrinkwrap on in order to prevent the cream from drying out.Different angles of sunlight...
I used to have 7200 in 1998 and for a long time it was unexpandable in terms of CPU. That was ma main reason I sold it ...and then they accounced that you can upgrade it via PCI!
I have a similar problem with SE/30 after caps spillage. After a lot of work managed to revive the video, but I can not get any sound.
If there's any sound in the app (or when I try System sounds) it freezes! The same with loading the System 6.x. I have schematics if you want.
What I intend to do is connect SE/30 to the 'Net via some kind of SLIP connection using Raspberry Pi with limited graphics browsing, mainly text browsing, IRC and Usenet. There's so much interesting tech stuff in text only (incl. net.micro.* groups from the 80s). Plus HyperCard stacks I use on...
horrible. That's the reason I try to stay away from "unknown" and "untested" Classics and SE/30s because of double risk - leaking capacitors and battery goo.
you can try any local electronic repair shop, it doesnt need to be Apple - specific. Probably costs 10 eur or so, but believe me it's worth using professional service. My Classic II didnt survive amateur recap process..
Hi, it might seem obvious to you, but I do not want to mess it while trying it for a first time.
I need to replace that frontal logo on the case of my Plus (colors are totally washed out), on some Internet photos this little apple logo seems like a badge which stick to the hole in the plastic...
unfortunately does not boot from floppy disc, it spits out fine bootable floppy and shows blinking question mark.. there's normal bong. Might it be ROM related? Which chip is responsible for generating graphics?
ok it's alive again! Spent $10 for a service in a local repair shop, but I guess it was worth it.
The problem is it has weird glitch on screen... tried to replace the simms, but the problem persists. Any ideas?
with proper external device like MASPlayer, which is plugged to LPT or serial port in Amiga World it would possible to play mp3 files on 68000 machines.
hi, I left it too close to this nasty ikea desk lamp and see what happened, warped plastic, not to mention ugly discoloration.
What would you do? Try to heat it with heatgun from the internal side and use glass to flatten surface?
I really hate it, because it's not so common Plus ED version...
Envy you! You guys are so lucky, but a few weeks ago bought Amiga 1200 for decent price. Quite blind purchase, because I only saw a few pictures.
Came with GVP 030/40 card, bunch of extra mice, heavy duty PSU and some guide books - that seller didnt mention.
thank you guys for suggestions, will try to focus on these 4 caps esp. C4 and C6.
Havent replaced large axial caps yet (should I?).. just all the SMD caps.
