ok here's an update, I bought CRT on eBay, supposedly taken from Mac Classic, but the yoke cable was plug and play. After transplantation, keeping my fingers crossed I turned it on, ping, happy mac, no arches of electricity...that's good.  It boots just ok, but the screen seems distorted...

yes it did ! :) not being ecstatic about it right now, it gives me 02xxx RAM related error. Does it add up another 512k to existing RAM or totally bypasses motheboard mem adding full 1 MB?

Hi,  forgot to take a picture of Hi and Lo ROMs before taking them out and cleaning them. How can I distinguish them? One of them is marked "C", the other one "B". Simple logics suggest that C is probably Hi and B is low, but wanted to make sure.  Besides what are the symptoms of boot attempt...

after complete motherboard cleaning - temporary solution just to determine if logic board is fine before recap . My only concern right now is slight display vibration, especially during early startup and weird high pitch noise, must be the monitor related.

ok gentle tilting on analog board gave me this, from zero reaction on screen to these bars.  At least CRT is working! 

ok thanks for info, bibilit. After initial cleaning I turned it on. Initially nothing happened, but after several seconds of delay I could hear fan noise. No startup sound, no reaction on screen. What would you suggest trying first?

ok, lets see, at least no PRAM spill, need to clean motherboard first with IPA. Is there any chance I can test this mobo with my SE/30 monitor and power supply? Can I plug it in ?

thank you all for the tips, I just bought it for about $50 including original carry bag, mouse and keyboard. Let's see how it goes.  I am not setting my hopes high, but at least it might be a CRT donor for my SE/30 (arent they the same?).

I was about to suggest using some modeling putty, but you probably found something better. 

anyone remembers totally free SoftMac for windows? It has this cool feature of converting floppies to Macintosh format (hfs) and extracting .dsk to your floppy. You dont need MacDrive to do it.

ok here's quick update to my SE/30. Took it to retired university technician with 45 years experience, who opened it up. He disconnected it from a yoke board and found a separate piece of glass from CRT neck, so it was degassed for sure. On the other hand he tested flyback and said it was fine...
