I swapped fully working 800k and SuperDrives (confirmed with other Macs), but to no avail. Should I try recapping the remaining cap - the biggest one? Or SWIM chip is dead?
Hi,
I did recap the mobo and analogue board, I get stable display and the computer is booting fine from BlueSCSI. Working with OS 6.0.8 and 7.1.
On floppy port I get a stable 12 volts and 4,97 volts. However it does not utilize floppy drive - internal or external. I get no reaction when...
Hi
Recapped my Macintosh Classic, but it booted without sound and gave me this nasty checkerboard pattern.
I was worried that my soldering skills were not perfect and somewhat the caps are misalligned. Cleaned the mobo with IPA. Nothing, just still the bootscreen for chess fanboys. Tried power...
Hi,
I am thinking about using my old Macs (512k, Plus, SE/30) as distraction free typewriters.
Is there any chance I could use white color characters on black screen to reduce eye strain?
I think in mid 90s I used telnet or terminal emulator program for my old PowerBook 170 that had this...
hi,
want to run old Apple II software (mainly games) on IIgs with 3,5” drive and plenty of 800k disks to use, but no 5,25 drive. Is there any way to convert those games to DiskCopy 4.2 format and write them on 3,5” floppies? That’s my temporary plan before I get adapter for my Gotek emulator...
I've had the same issue with my SE/30 after replacing the chips damaged by capacitors' leakage. Did you try to reflow the solder joints on that small neckboard that connects to the CRT? It helped in case of my SE/30 and other SE.
Tobbas: Did you find the solution? I just added diode to my Plus's mobo, put dual OS (System 6/System 7.0.1) on microSD card that I inserted in my BlueSCSI v.1, naming it HD10_512.hda and voila! It booted System 6 right off the bat. You just need a proper image.
Hi,
while browsing my father's old Mac software archives from the 80s, I came across a pre-release version of MacAuthor floppy with xerox copied manual (in English).
Has anyone heard of this program? I believe I've read somewhere that initial MacAuthor project became Claris MacWrite in the end...
zigzagjoe: the image you just offered to OP is 1.2 MB, so it wont work with the Plus.
Tobbas: you could try someone else's image confirmed working on Plus.
It is recommended to format the SD card using the patched Apple HD Utility, but how? When I try to do it within Basilisk I cant select my...
Relax. I have never hot plugged them, just basing on people's faults.
I wouldnt bother with anything faster than BlueSCSI v1.1. on Macintosh SE, since there is no app I can think of that would take advantage of greater data transfer while having 68000@8mhz. Waste of money.
they are vulnerable to plugging/unplugging while the computer is running. Besides that I have never had any problems while using them for 2 years or so.
update #2: temporarily I replaced the SE power supply with SE/30 PSU and now it works. So now it's power supply recap time.
Any safety tips on replacing these Hi Voltage capacitors with warning labels?
I would suggest getting BlueSCSI v.1.1, it will allow you to swap files with your modern computer running Basilisk emulator. There's even a new firmware that allows BlueSCSI to "see" files copied and pasted into special folder without emulator! I might have a spare unit with Apple Platinum case...
