There’s loads of guides around about fixing a multitude of problems on 110v boards, but I’m struggling to find much on international variants to try and help diagnose a couple of boards I have that I’ve been having trouble getting to work. Anyone know of any good ones that could help?
Don't suppose anyone happens to have a driver for this NuBus ethernet card?
I've had a search around for anything relating to its markings like SSI Nubus A1 and SSI NB128 but without much luck, and I've tried some other drivers just to see if they happened to work, but to no avail!
I'm using @mactjaap's amazing MacIPRpi on a Raspberry Pi and it's working great, but I'm wondering if it's possible to disable the NAT element and use the IP range I have setup for the VLAN that my vintage network uses? I mainly want to do this simply because.. honestly.. I struggle with some...
I had a search around but couldn't find anything definitive.. does anyone know if a 3400 Lithium Ion battery will work in a PowerBook 5300? I happen to have 2 working 3400 batteries which both work in my 3400, but neither are recognised by my 5300. Now the 5300 did have a leaky battery in it...
Picked up an early revision SE/30 board (the the wee bodge wire) today with video issues.. not the usual ones we get mind.. just a faint line on the screen that looks like it’s changing (possibly a video signal?) @mrkirkby thought it may be one of the U*8 chips but before I go swapping them with...
I have a black PowerMac 5500 with broken speaker covers. I’ve replaced them with the covers from a dead 5400 and they fit perfectly, but naturally I want them to match rather than look like a reverse panda. Does anyone have any experience painting them and if so any known good paints that will...
I’ve got 2 identical PCI DOS compatible cards, one working perfectly and the other I’ve had sitting around for a while but had no way to test it until the other one turned up yesterday with the relevant GIMO cable!
I compared the two cards and found the one that doesn’t work (Bus error when...
I have a Quadra 950 (formerly @joshc’s) which has no key, but I also have a key from another machine (I think it was a Q900 or possibly an ANS700).
Now of course the key doesn’t work in the Quadra. It fits but it doesn’t turn.
I’ve had a look at the barrel and I can’t see any way to open...
I just thought I’d post a couple of pics of the HD upgrade and caddy for the 16/600 PS. I’ve had this installed for a while but I decided to upgrade the RAM today and thought I may as well document this interesting little addition!
It’s surprisingly still working. It’s just a 200MB 2.5”...
I was hoping I’d be able to figure this out myself but alas lack of experience and information available has stumped me.
I’ve acquired an AIO G3 here in the UK which is in fairly good physical condition. There’s no battery bomb issues or rust, and the logic board works 100% as I’ve hooked it...
So I’ve managed to pick up what seems to be a Prototype PowerBook 550. The screen doesn’t work, and it doesn’t have the original 68040 processor (it’s been upgraded to a 167mhz 603), but other than that it’s working.
Now the weird thing about this 550 is that it isn’t black like the retail...
I’ve not been well for a while and I just finally felt like I had the energy to come out to my workshop to get some projects done.. I mean clearly I knew how messy it was last time I was in.. but I was rather taken back by how bad it was with fresh eyes.
I’m ill and bored and for some reason this question came to mind.. why does the full sized DuoDocks have an HDI-30 scsi port? I can understand it on the mini dock and other PowerBooks as they supported SCSI Disk mode, but the full duodock doesn’t.
It seems a normal DB-25 port woulda made...
Hello!
I'm trying to salvage a 2400 logic board that was slightly battery bombed. I've done a few on board repairs and a couple of trace repairs, and it now bongs, but nothing comes on screen (nor external screen). I don't get a GLoD. I'm sure I read on another post a while ago that these...
I’m curious as to if the Performa 630 logic board will work in the 5500 case? I think the connector is the same but I seem to recall the 5500 had a 3.3v rail and I’m not sure if that will cause any problems with the older 630 board.
I’ve acquired a SE/30 board which has no battery or obvious trace damage, which starts up and makes a chime sound but no video output and no signs of it starting up beyond that point.
So far I’ve:
Cleaned board with isopropyl alcohol
Full recap
Replaced ROM/Ram from known working SE/30
Replaced...
I figured it was time to start posting some of my recent conquests, and some of my setup!
Todays is an Apple Scanner. Not a OneScanner, it predates that (and tbh I wasn’t even aware it existed until a few months ago!)
I’ve not yet actually got it to work. It is recognised by ScsiProbe but no...
