Yeah, it seems to disregard the cache completely. So I can probably upgrade my 7100 in to being still slow as a result. Now to just find a driver for the original tango, instead of the more modern ones.

Thanks for helping quell my fears, lol. I also managed to snag what I assume is a 1.0 version of a Sonnet Tango, and I'm hoping to use it with this system. Given that the G3 seems to have 1MB of cache built in, do I actually need the motherbord cache?

Well, toady I said goodbye to two machines. My G3 that I got a few weeks back is now going out to someone who will enjoy it more than I could, and my UMAX is going to go to a coworker who will love it, but doesn't know he's getting it. Why did I get rid of two specifics? Because I now have a...

HPV vs AV - Power Mac 8100/110

How dare you insult the HDI-45. Next thing you're gonna say that ADC wasn't that great an idea either.

As it turns out, the door on the CD drive is stuck, and it is indeed a mostly working G3 with a ROM 1 Rev A board. I was thinking I might source the rage 128 from my old B&W, same with the cpu so I can get it running above 300MHz. That way it's more distinct from my clone that's sitting right...

Well, today was substantial. Not extremely so, but still awesome. I managed to snag a probably Rev A Beige G3 Minitower, complete with the stock AV card. according to Free Geek, the CD and zip drive aren't working, and there's some plastic on the PowerPC badge's side that is being held on by...

Boot Speed vs High Ram Count - Quadra 950

68k machines aren't really the best for browsing even simple websites like the garden, so you're probably better off transferring to them some other way. That said, you might not mind the wait once you're used to it. It's not a multiple-minute wait under most circumstances.

Today I managed to spend $6 on something worth quite a bit more. I'm not going to say no to a matching keyboard for my IIGS. An early model at that.

    Odd issues with PDQ

Along those lines, I was able to install OS 8.6 via CD, then was able to install 9.2.2 via copying the contents of the CD while booted off of the HDD. So I think it's an issue with the bus, of all things. When it's booted off of a more complex CD than 8.6, it struggles to not freeze while moving...

    Odd issues with PDQ

Yeah, I assumed it would be something like that with the backlight, and have learned to just boot OS9 before attempting an OSX install. I'm also just confused as to why my system is now refusing to install anything from CD. both my CD and DVD drives outright fail to start the restore process for...

    Odd issues with PDQ

I was using a generic SD to IDE converter, which i have since gotten rid of as it was struggling to do anything beyond booting OS9 to begin with. At this point, I just want a version of OSX on here so that I can file transfer with my more modern machines, nothing much else. OS9 is what it'll...

    Odd issues with PDQ

Updating my thread, as I am still facing similar issues, and my thread is one of the google results when I try to look for myself. I am mostly able to get a stable system when using OS9, but I am completely unable to install OSX using the same disks that I used on all my other 10.2 compatible...

    Beta’s obligatory thread

While not exactly anything new, I decided that I should do a "Family Photo" of sorts with all of my Apple Hardware. And, outside of lacking a monitor to use with my 7100 and a reason to plug in my Mini, everything was all on at once.

Looking for a PCI Ethernet card for my Clone

I might be interested sometime soon, thanks. And as for my current RAM, I have the built in 16, plus 32 extra. It is less ram than my 7100 has, ironically. I just happened to have 128MB for that lying about, and 32 for my SE/30.

Looking for a PCI Ethernet card for my Clone

Yeah, I'm just iffy on spending upwards of $50 for RAM right now without being able to test it out. I'll look for one sometime soon. If only Mac OS worked with the multiple DOS/Win98 cards I have from 3com.

Looking for a PCI Ethernet card for my Clone

As the title says, I'm looking to figure out what kind of cards I can use to finally get ethernet going on my SuperMac I'm effectively restrained to using 8.1 for now as I am unable to find more 5v EDO, which is making googling this exceptionally hard.

Twin Turbo 128M8 corruption in odd pattern

Yeah, I have a card with the bigger heatsink already, and use a system blower underneath to keep it cooled. Given their prices, though, I'd rather have my Voodoo doing stuff like playing TES Redguard and regue squadron in GLIDE instead of a handful of mac games. I also managed to scrounge up a...

Twin Turbo 128M8 corruption in odd pattern

After pressing on all sixteen or so chips, the issue didn't disappear. Strangely, it doesn't seem to show up when in millions of colors, and when in 256 grays. As this is the only mac compatible PCI card that I have, I'll just have to use internal video for now. I'm not going to sacrifice my...

Twin Turbo 128M8 corruption in odd pattern

Posting this because I am unsure of how to even figure out a fix for this. I have this card inside my SuperMac C600, and there's back and or colored dots in a pattern all across the screen. When you increase the resolution, they appear more often, but in roughly similar places, and when you...
