In house Mac Plus upgrade card for 68020 coding makes a world of sense. I'd like to see how that PSU contraption looks installed on the an open Plus chassis. Why button them up at all? Might that oddly placed fan have been pointing at the hottest parts of the Plus A/B?
If David Ramsey...
That makes a lot of sense in the context of my Folklore read, But why 12MHz parts, if indeed they were such as seemingly marked? Was an 8MHz 68020/FPU combo ever even released?
That's what I was wondering about, makes a lot of sense. I tke it thad downshifting from 16MHz to 8MHz is more easily...
Yep on 16MHz clock halving done on the Compacts* ** logic boards to generate the 8MHz CPUCLK.
But nope, that'd require a bodge to tap the 16MHz clock line at source somewhere on the Plus logic board on installation.
That would radically violate the KISS principle. ;)
Plus predated C16M on the...
That doesn't stop the Performer from running at 16MHz sans crystal. The difference between Classic and SE versions of Performer are the GAL at U7 next to the SE PDS slot with what became the standardized 16MHz reference clock in its pinout.
Assuming the clock doubling formulas (phase lock...
Unless 12MHz is a magic number for running Logic Board->Analog Board->CRT Neck, I really can't see any point in Apple looking at something like this? Prototype s boards seem to have been marked as such, but this one may have been special enough that no mistake could have been made.
That custom...
If CPU and FPU (marked 12MHz?) are really only running at 12MHz it's no wonder nobody has seen this thing. It would then only be half the performance kick of the 16MHz Performer that we've already cloned. When was the 16MHz 68020 released? Radius16 was one of the first Accelerators for the Mac...
Glad this popped up again. One of my first manic, worked 'til dawn hacks was installing Q630 board/OEM PSU/FDD into the backside of a Sharp word processor/printer. Nice little portable case with a handle on it. If interested I can take some pics, currently has 6290/Reply DOS Card setup...
Anyone have the Radius FPD card for Plus/512ke to donate, trade for or sell for my cloning project?

Thanks! Tried it, but for anything more recent than 2022 it suggests https://scinet.usda.gov/
It's looking more and more like the function of any given Programmable Logic can be noodled out and reconstructed via AI. Reverse engineering an entire circuit board is mentioned. If I can get one of...
Wondering if anyone has seen AI used to crack protected programmable logic?
Target chip is the PLDC20G10 on my current obsession, the Radius FPD for Mac Plus.

24pin DIP IC provides up to 22 inputs and 10 outputs...
Amazing progress has been made in terms of complexity wondering where we'll be within the next ten years?
Anxiously awaiting a hybrid Q630 leading into PPC versions of the platform. Really needs provision for more memory and pathway to install a great VidCard for both platforms. 🤞
I'd suggest holding on to them. The way things are going with remix boards in terms of complexity, the 7100 will almost certainly become a target within the next ten years. So proprietary 7100 silicon will go up in value monetarily and preservation status. NuBus PPCs are a short lived...
Still need the NEUTRAL position, is that doable under your setup?
Yep, replacing all the guts of the PowerBook 100. But it's the Compute Module version that came out a few years ago. CM5's out, but sticking with the original concept for dream machine...
