Flat panel displays are nothing like Apple or VGA signals which are analog. All flat panels have a digital interface and Apple's of that era were of inexplicable arcane design.
You've linked the kind of controllers you'd be using in the FDD bay, fed analog signals bodged from the Video card for...
Doesn't sound at all like my thing. I haven't tried my hand at any Mac emulation on anything as yet, got too many of the real deal, the stuffings-n-trimmings tucked away or on display in the apartment as it is. ;)
TLDR:
This is a reboot of a two decades old project aimed at lavishing unending...
Du-oh! Forgot all about the Rocket by the time made my way thru the pics and noticed a Pico cord might clean things up on the bench just a teensy.
Congrats on that pre-prototype release Rocket. Methinks -1 is a fabulous serial number, I'd be even more jealous if it had a bit longer...
That's just beautiful from every direction. Very nice! 😎
Is that prototype Rocket #1, #2 or #3? Red-n-Green looks like Christmas!
Wondering if the size of your printer is what has the Rocket and your Mac ATX hanging off the sides? Also wondering if you might be planning to put a clip for...
The pack will be held down on the drive shelf by just one strip of electrical tape, no worries. ;)
Wondering why that NOT FOR RESALE sticker was placed on the cache card? Maybe it was a demo machine somewhere? That might explain its great condition, there's almost no yellowing at all.
The one...
Indeed, I have a nice collection of those battery holders, many dating back to the glory days Radio Shack. Thinking about splitting the circuit on a Quad Pack in half and wiring up the two pair of AAA (or AA?) to IC test clips I have on hand:
I think I have four discreet colors available and...
Nice, but that sounds a less safe proposition than alligator clipping a pair of cells in parallel to the originals to me? I'd like to be able to boot it up a few times with the lid closed to try booting from a 7.1 Install floppy or do an OS install on a HDD in another machine and hook it up for...
Putting it all together. Assuming the batteries are dead, is there any reason I can't use a pair of fresh cells rigged to clip onto the original cell leads in parallel and boot it right up?
Don't wanna modify this machine in any way whatsoever, I'm wondering about passing it on, maybe I should...
I couldn't spot any cap or battery leakage at all, any apparent to anyone else?
This machine's amazingly clean and complete inside and out. I never even tried to boot is as I figured the batteries were DOA. That'd be a no go correct? Maybe it's only the IIfx that won't boot w/o two good...
Interesting that it only occupies the CPU socket, the Cache Card adapters fill two.
Snagged this beautiful, near mint machine when a member pointed it out to me on the 'Bay back when I was obsessed with all things NuBus. I did absolutely nothing with is aside from taking a pic of that morass of...
Very, very cool stuff, thanks for that explanation.
Glad to see how you and others are so well versed in Paleolithic I/O Architectures. Like I said earlier, I see some tidbit or connection in the collection, posts about this or that here a/o my extensive reference book collection or other. Then...
That's about what I thought based upon interactions in previous project threads in the forums as well in the PM SkunkWorks..
I am, but giving up on the impossible dream of Fast SCSI II in my SE/30 is a bit difficult. ;)
Fanciful Stretch Goal's not a serious suggestion, just what I find to be...
Is there any insurmountable problem with excising the entire NuBus interface and doing whatever necessary in order to hook the remainder of the card directly to the 030 PDS? AI playtime commences. :p
Methinks @Melkhior might have some interesting things to say about getting around the card's...
You're overthinking this I think, apply the KISS principal! You can just use your crap screened 190 to install any compatible operating system on a CF in adapter from floppy drive if it works. Sweet, neat and simple. I use an "install for any Macintosh" OS in a couple of flavors on CF to boot...
Indeed. The two HY6264A Series parts to their right would be low power, non-volatile SRAM for faster memory on the 68000 subsytem. Is there a trickle charge available on NuBus when asleep or shut down states or would they just be loaded load from ROM at startup...
