No, I put them in the System file! It didn't seem to break anything, fortunately, but the patch isn't working either, so I'll put them into the enabler as well and see how that goes. EDIT: That worked! c

OK, I'm applying the patch, but I'm having some trouble figuring it out. I copied ptch -20217, ptch 41, boot 22460 and PACK 2, and nothing. I haven't yet copied the Text Encoding Converter extension. I'll do that and see if it changes anything. EDIT: Nope, it didn't. c

That's pretty much true, but I think other than altivec and proper SMP (multi CPU) support, the core G4 instruction set is quite similar to the G3's. But, I'm neither a CPU expert nor a coder, so I can't say for certain. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable about such matters will chime in.... c

How reliable is HFS+ on your iBook? Can you boot from an HFS+ formatted disk? Are there any wonkiness or corruption issues? c

Keep going! Once you get to a certain point where it works relatively well but needs optimization and refinement, hopefully it will encourage others to build on your good work here. Who knows, maybe you can work on getting an 88k CPU working next! c

I don't know what MDK is, but I had forgotten that it does also include PageMill (3.0, if it matters). I had a feeling I was forgetting something! I'm sure I still have it somewhere, but it's been a long time. That said, it was a small yellow binder, not an envelope with the disks in paper...

I can confirm that in addition to the aforementioned Install/Restore and World Book disks, it did also ship with Quicken 98, Williams-Sonoma Guide to Good Cooking and Kai's Photo Soap. Were there any others I'm forgetting? That's interesting, so apparently the Rev. B and early Rev. C shipped...
