Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Out of the box the gold Lucent cards are WPA2 capable. I think the silvers are also - others may know for sure.
This is with OS 9.x; OS 8.6 should be OK as well with the proper AirPort drivers. Lucent's drivers for OS 8.0 and earlier aren't going to make it.
Note that you are limited to...
I assume you are using Noguchi's driver. Did you get his writeup when you downloaded it?

FWIW, the Lucent card usually has good range but I find it's best to be closer to the wireless base station when it is...
OK, we have a couple of folks on 68kMLA who can fix PCBs, etc. better than new.
Do we have anyone, or know of anyone, who can & will replace the backlight in a PowerBook display? I have two Pismos that are great except for the orange (on one) or very dim (on the other) at startup...
So 6.0.8 works just fine, 7.x does not.
Suspect the HD capacity/RAM requirements for 7.x. vs what you actually have functioning.
Edit: Try it with 7.x with "Extensions Off" as a start
OK.
I went through the Google search again and, like TheMac Guy, found the best picture of a MacSnap installation to be in the linked he referenced. I gather that the pic of the logic board shows both the SCSI (524S) and RAM (?) expansion boards in place.
I don't know where the ROM chip is...
This board came to me in a box of Apple II stuff and it obviously isn't Apple II.

Google tells me that MacSnap is gear for early Classic Macs - 128s, 512s and the like - but I do not find anything specific about an "Aux. ROM Board".
Surely the answer is here...
Good grief.
Run the bleeping test already. Just do it before someone has an electronic stroke (or maybe a real one for some of the more ... ah ... emotionally committed ... posters)
The quality of the thread has deteriorated as the "discussion" progressed. What comes next after cow patties?
FWIW I use a Zip drive as a HD with my Apple IIGS. It is a lot less noisy than my SCSI hard drives and, quite frankly, I have more confidence in it than the real HDs.
Two more pluses; Zip drives are more available and less costly.
The drive ejects the disk on shutdown but I haven't tried to...
Hi whoaMan
The time and date don't appear. The HD has SS 7.0.1 and I don't think it has a menubar clock. During the startup the little "wrist watch" icon appears and it does maybe two clicks - that's about all of the action.
The floppy icon shows and the question mark blinks e_v_e_r s_o...
OK.
A bit more experimentation and another observation (but no real progress).
With no keyboard, just a mouse, the startup goes all the way to the normal screen with the menu bar and hard drive and Trash icons. However, the screen is locked up and the mouse will not move the cursor. The same...
Hi Joe
Seems like you are coming to my rescue again. :)
Several Disk Tools floppy disks and the hard drive are perfect with the logic board you recapped for me in either of two SE/30 chassis. With any of these the board in question stops at the same place in both chassis.
A further...
Trying to figure out a "new" logic board in an otherwise proven SE/30 computer.
Known good ROM SIMM
Known good all RAM modules
Known good floppy & hard disk drives (known good Disk Tools or system software)
Starts with no chime but with a good image of the "happy Mac" on the CRT, goes to...
This thread is pure serendipity.
I have two logic boards, one for an SE/30, the other for a IIci, apparently in need of recap jobs. I am in the same situation as CompactMacLover - soldering on a printed circuit board is NOT (I assure you, NOT) listed in my skill set.
Neither board shows any...
