Hi all - I've decided to have a very modest crack at blogging. I'm attempting to use my 128k for constructive work, and I figured writing about the process might be fun. 128k.site has it. I'm still working out how to WordPress, so bear with me.
Right. So I bought a PC-based Summagraphics tablet on the off chance that it had the same adaptor, and it looks like it does. Restricted to North American voltages unfortunately, so I’ll need to get an inverter before I can plug it in to check which pin’s which. However, it’s a Sino-American...
Some developments. First, a mate who works at a printing company said they were cleaning out their storage room. Newer stuff than I’m generally into, but a treasure trove of 1995+ Hardware and software.
On the topic of inventories I’ve found Airtable to be a good little iPhone database. The photo importing seems a bit janky, but it’s free for small scale stuff (although I wish these developers would an an optional $10/year or something instead of free — I’d like to support them somehow!).
According to to this great list of Mac Plus accelerators (that site had some really interesting stuff), it’s a 16mhz 68000. I have a slightly lighter-weight Mac Portable (that’s just as broken as both my portables). Woot!
My brother found a platinum Mac plus somewhere for $100 with a keyboard and mouse. *Buy it at once!* I said.
It wouldn’t go beyond the ram test when we started it and the screen was shaken and too bright in lines, so I figured the analogue board was fried.
Doing an inventory of my compacts...
Just uploaded FrameMaker 3 to Macintosh Garden.
Mac Garden FM 3
One for the DTP nerds out there, but it's one of the few times I've uploaded anything that hasn't been on the web before.
Not a perfect archive — the disk images don't seem to work in any meaningful way, but I've managed to get...
Hi Drexel — I don’t think mine came with software. I’ll have a look in the morning. However, macdrivermuseum/vintageApple to the rescue:

So having given up on my SE/30's ethernet card for the time being (see thread elsewhere) and hooked up a sci to ethernet adaptor, I find that I'm getting wireless AppleTalk. I didn't think that was possible. I have a Linksys Velop wireless system at home. I'm sitting upstairs with my SE/30...
Thanks Cruff and Byrd and Cheesestraws. In answer to your question Cheesestraws yes, it's a new cable. But I think re-soldering the thing might be the way to go. Which is super tedious and probably beyond my capabilities. SCSI to Ethernet adaptor in the meantime.
Hi all. So, many years ago my parents' then new puppy came over and chewed through the ribbon cable that connects my SE/30's ethernet card to the interface daughter card:
I assumed this was a plug in one, but turns out the socket is soldered onto the board itself:
So, my question is: what...
It’s been a while! A new conquest: finally, an AppleColor High Resolution RGB Display. Is now attached to my IIfx for a beautiful authentic colour look.
Hi all - revivifying an old thread, but I’m also keen to find an answer to this question. Is the Mac monitor DB15 to DB15 cable just a straight through thing or something more complicated?
