    powerbook duo 2300c

it won't work. one thing is i have no scsi compatible stuff (and i am more willing to buy something that i can easily network with) and the other is that i tried to take it apart but only managed to remove the keyboard and saw frightening stuff underneath. compared to this my powerbook g4's guts...

    powerbook duo 2300c

ahh.. so i have no other choice. i tried to use the modem but the previous owner did not install the appropriate control panels for it (modem, tcp/ip etc.). alright, should i then go for the micro dock according to this article, for it has (or may have) ethernet? i'm guessing there are several...

    powerbook g4

sorry to hear you say that, sometimes i'm thinking the same thing. i would've gone for the mbp but i had'nt enough money. my main reason was durability: the macbook got too many scratches in my backpack and i almost broke the hinge once. interesting thing is that the pbg4 fw800's manual shows...

    powerbook g4

hi again, sorry for leaving some posts unreplied, i had a harsh time during holidays. soo.. i finally traded my macbook for a powerbook g4 15" 1.5 ghz. it is the one without sms. the advantage is that it has a region-free dl dvd-rw and came with 1.5 gigs of ram, so i will not have to spend...

one more thing: can i put a g4 mdd dual 1.42 ghz processor into my quicksilver? thanks again, bamdad

    Power Mac G5

thanks for the info. :) all that said, i still need to get a processor upgrade for my g4. beside the fact that i am a fanatic of old mac hardware, i need my 1 terabyte (!) of hd space i put into it and my native os 9 support for older games and apps. and consider: it would have 1.5 gbs of...

    Power Mac G5

do you happen to know where to get some updated cpus in europe? the g5 will be sold soon, so i really need a powerful g4. btw it is insanely great to run os 9 again natively..

    Power Mac G5

g4 mac mini? i thought the first ever mac minis had a g5 processor. :) btw, i have (or will have, at least) a g4 quicksilver but that is way slower than the emac.

    Power Mac G5

if this is a reply to me, then you bet, i would love one, but they are extremely rare (in my country). i saw somebody modding one into a homebuilt g5-looking case after the monitor stopped working. and it is sweeeeeet. even the original looks great. so if i see one i will surely buy it...

    Power Mac G5

madmax: tried everything you wrote, nothing helped, although now i am starting to get the idea that it needs a new pram battery since it has never been replaced (since 2003!).. thanks for helping anyway. ;) and to the others, i bought a series one macbook. pismos are hard to get around here...

    ibook 500 mhz

hopefully.. :) i have an older 160gbyte in my 400mhz one, it only sees 128 gigs, but that is fine. i think you should take a closer look at hdd and motherboard connectors, sticking them in tighter saved me lots of headaches. :)

    ibook 500 mhz

hi, i am far from being an expert, but my imac 400mhz booted os 9 just fine with no hd in it, os x _may_ be kernel panicing because of no swap space, although once when i was trying to install os x and it did not recognize the drive it booted nicely, only there were no options at the select...

    Power Mac G5

thanks guys. i took the whole machine apart, it has 6 mbytes of vram and it has a rage pro. what still surprises me is that it boots 8.1 nicely (the only problem being that in 8.1 i cannot adjust the screen size, position etc. in monitors and sound, but this is normal, i think, since the 8.1...

    Power Mac G5

another thing, i have these imac g3's here, and the older one (233mhz) can boot into os 8.1 through 10.4. nice. it is really a pity that hellcats over the pacific will not run (blank screen on every powermac so far). what i am trying to say is: not every specification is accurate, even from...

    Power Mac G5

sorry for not relplying, my net connection was down and i had to assemble two imac g3's (the 233mhz version is definetly _not_ meant for upgrading, i had to take the whole motherboard out). so, yes, with no success. this was one of the first thing i did. done. thank you, trying these in a...

    Power Mac G5

can it be an agp slot problem, even if i am not having any other video problems at all? i can even move the card gently while the machine is on, without any issues.. only this startup thingy. but i noticed that it takes only 2 tries to turn it on correctly after updating the firmware. pismo is...

    Power Mac G5

bluekatt: 'dual usb' (according to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBook) should be a g3, so it must boot os 9. :)
