hmm.. 678 you say?
679 and 9 by itself only gives me an uninitialised card.
678 however gives me garbled stuff on the second display but it shows up in monitors and the emachines control panel as '1024x768' - no millions of colours though. maybe my card is too crap for that, even tho it's...
how on earth did you get that? i have a 10 switch adapter, tried setting it as you said, set the rotary to 4 but the only result is that now it's not even detected on boot.. any other combinations i could try?
well that's the first one i tried, seemed the most logical, 640x480 60hz is the most basic VGA resolution.. but no, black screen.
holding down 'e' seems to delay boot time before the 'happy mac' screen even further - it is already a bit long since i installed the card, i guess it's scanning...
I am using a standard VGA cable with the adapter, as my old cable wouldn't even fit (that already has DB15 on the one end). And yes, the first one I tried was 3 and 4, with all the variations of DIP switch settings. Still just a black screen. : (
Hello,
So as part of a project to upgrade my IIci, I picked up one of these cards from eBay. Until now I have been using a strange but useful cable that has a DB15 plug on one end and a standard VGA on the other. The built-in graphics worked just fine with my 19" Samsung flat screen monitor...
UPDATE: so i managed to 'fix' /opt and consequently, `wget`. tried to `fsck -y` the hell out of it, but it kept coming up with errors. i have absolutely no idea why, since it seems to work for you guys, but in the end nuking it and creating two equally sized partitions on SCSI ID 1 did the...
exactly my thoughts. i would rule out the SCSI2SD, since all other functions work flawlessly. i am able to create new drives (for my standard system 7 install), partition it and update the driver. also `wget` behaving like this is weird. never seen this behaviour even on old systems like AIX...
i use wget all the time on other systems, i mean A/UX. it did it two times in a row, on different sd cards, and without me even touching /opt beforehand.. i think the wget binary might be compiled with some funny 'fopen' implementation that wreaks havoc on the fs. but this is just a guess. i'm...
hey, i see and respect your hard work, but as i've said further down in my post: it does the same with a non-root user. also, why couldn't i use root? according to your /usr/local/etc/sshd_config, PermitRootLogin is set to 'yes'.
i have read the github page, and i'm no stranger to ssh myself...
thanks man, but these were one of the first things i tried. don't remember the exact version of sshd on the image, but it didn't recognise neither UseDNS nor GSSAPIAuhthentication, the latter of which was also a suggested solution somewhere. i ended up using the ancient version of sshd also...
okay i'll stop spamming this topic now, sorry, but after this i really have no idea:
mango:~ mobile$ echo | telnet 10.10.10.55 22
Trying 10.10.10.55...
Connected to 10.10.10.55.
Escape character is '^]'.

hmm, seems like on this fancy new interface i can't even edit my posts.. or i'm just a total dumbass.
anyway, the weirdest thing is this:
root@3ci:/root# /usr/local/bin/ssh localhost
The authenticity of host 'localhost (127.0.0.1)' can't be established.
RSA key fingerprint is...
thanks for responding so quickly. : )
actually, it boots just fine.. the filesystem stays marked dirty for some reason, so the boot process is stopped every time, but after running fsck manually (which finds no problems) and then `launch`, it's all good.
i think sshd is acting weird because...
hi everyone,
so i tested the image on my iici, and after fiddling around a bit, it works. after booting the system 7.5.3's 'disk tools' image and clicking 'update in 'apple hd sc setup' it seems to work fine.
the a/ux startup part always fails with '/dev/default NO WRITE' run fsck manually...
well we're determined that my PSU is not at fault, i've re-capped the board and now everything is fine. but thanks anyway, this might prove useful down the line. : )
hello again,
so i bit the bullet and ordered a USB-C iron from banggood and all the accessories, and i'm proud to say my first soldering job was a success - it's ALIIIVE! the SMD capacitors were a bit hard to replace but i managed to do a fairly nice job in the end. : ) thank you guys for all...
cheers for the suggestion, first i'll try a different PSU, if that doesn't fix it i'll take the PSU and logic board to my mate, and if all else fails i'll contact your guy. shipping to the US and back is definitely not cheap.
thanks for the reply. sadly, i'm not that good with a soldering iron, so i'll probably get a new (well 'different' to be exact) PSU, but this confirms my suspicions. if this doesn't fix it and i do need to recap the logic board too, i'll try to ask a friend with more experience.
as for the...
