As a small update - an adapter is on it's way to my place and I should have it by Thursday morning. I've installed the graphics card back in to the SE/30 and I'm using the drivers I've got from here: https://www.macintoshrepository.org/29669-lapis-video-card-drivers-colorserver-displayserver ...
I've got my hands on a color card (ProServer PDS for SE/30) but I'm lacking a way to connect it to a VGA monitor. Ordered an adapter off of ebay but it's about a month away until I get it. A neighbor of mine who used to be an electronic engineer said he'll try his hand at making a cable that...
LCD came in! Now I just have to get my hands on an adapter. Ordered one from ebay but that is going to take about 3 weeks.
tried contacting some european sellers to see if I can pay any extra so they can dhl express it overnight but none accepted.
Guess I’ll have to wait the 3 weeks before...
Yep, I do. Just, getting the adapter to convert from it to VGA is the tricky part. That would be an option, to buy it via Amazon.uk to you and get it couriered. Thank you. If I can't solve it within the next few days I might take you up on the offer :)
I wouldn't call it compact, as it barely fits into the SE/30 PDS Slot. Plugging it in or out is a nightmare as it almost scratches the backside of the CRT. But I agree, they seem to be the same thing with minor changes.
How does your connector look like? Mine outputs to a 2 line 15 pins female...
Well, turns out the FDD on this SE/30 is busted. The one I had in my SE was busted as well. Opened this one up and it seems that the tension spring is really untensioned. As in, it's > 1cm away from the floppy.
I don't know why but I thought the bus used would be the one from the 030 card and it would bypass the actual CPU and BUS from the motherboard. I know in some Total System brochures they were advertising that a SE with a TS Mercury 030 + Ram board + low ns ram would be a tiny bit faster than a...
After a few hours of fiddling with it and not realizing why it didn't want to boot from any other medium, I realized that the PDS video card was keeping it from booting. Removed the card for the time being so I can install 7.1 -> 7.5.3 and 7.5.5 until the external monitor and adaptor arrives...
Just in time for the holidays! A freshly recapped SE/30 with a ProColor Server Graphics card. I have a 17" silver LCD due to arrive and a DB15-HD15 convertor on the way.
Haven't powered it on yet, the box it came in seemed a tiny bit wet so I'm taking extra precautions to not fry anything when...
IIRC you're also doing a re-engineering of the SE right? Would like to donate for this and that since it's amazing work for long time vintage mac supports. I scanned the PCB Reverse Engineering thread a few times I don't remember seeing a paypal link, so this is why I brought up...
Well, you helped and convinced me to go down this route, I wouldn't have had considered it otherwise. I was talking with a friend/collector from my country and told him what you said and the guy dropped the mention that he had a color card and an se/30 he was willing to part with. Cost me about...
Well, I ended up getting an SE/30 with a Pro Color Server graphics card and a DB15 - VGA adapter. Until I can get my hands on a CRT for it, I'll just use an older, smaller VGA monitor. Think I just scored the whole grail. Compact to carry on the road/to jams and color support for my own stuff at...
Then hopefully I get that SE/30 and get a free slot to plug in a graphics card. I'll need to update my desk for sure, for it (using a cardboard/wood compound workbench and it's not going to sustain 2 crt's).
In that case, maybe a SE/30 with a graphics card and, yuck, external color monitor might be the way to go! Oh well, hope I'll win the bid, still holding strong on that one :)
p.s. I know there's a grayscale mode you can do to the SE/30 but I'm not good with soldering and never worked on a...
Using an accelerated SE with a lot of peripherals! Quite happy with it but I would really love color support for the game I'm working on. I'm currently bidding for an SE/30, which would free up a PDS slot for me to use to add an external video card and maybe use it to hook up to a color monitor...
I'm looking to upgrade from my accelerated SE to a Color Classic, but I'm not sure what budget I should set aside. What would a decent price for a Color Classic be? 300-500$? And are they affected by capacitors issues?
I think I have a copy of Deja Vu 1 + 2 on a floppy disk, however my SE Floppy is dead. I'll try and get it uploaded when I get a replacement drive.
Edit: Ups, my bad :(
